MAIN HELP - MAIN MENU - LINKS - TYPICAL NEWBIE 1ST QUESTION ANSWERS

LOOK HERE FIRST - CHECK THE LINKS BELOW - UPDATED 10/16/09

Xbox360 HARD DRIVE: You must have an XBOX 360; 20, 60, or 120 HDD to store downloaded content, game saves, accounts, and updates.  You cannot use an external USB drive, or just connect ANY SATA drive as a stock replacement.  You can only upgrade your HDD to 60, or 120, see the menu below for information.

UPDATES: Know the difference between a SYSTEM update and a TITLE update.  If you place a game in the unit, and it says it needs to update, then UPDATE.  If you try to sign in to live and it says a SYSTEM UPDATE is required, that's on you.  System updates are Dash, Kernel, and whatever; Game updates are fixes for the game, be it glitch fixes or performance fixes.

WILL THEY REPAIR IT? M$ is now returning consoles that have been opened, have a broken or no warranty sticker.  They are sending consoles back with letters stating there is evidence of tampering, or has been tampered with, and; that they will not repair it.  It will also state they will not repair it even if you pay.

You cannot make a perfect 1:1 copy with any commercial software.  You must follow the backup procedures in the tutorials, and the DVD drive must be flashed with hacked firmware for them to work, PERIOD!

Using backups DOES NOT shorten the life of your DVD drive, or the laser assembly.

If you bought a used Xbox360, and it was FLASHED, that does not read games discs?  If you do not have the DVD drive KEY, you will not be able to repair it.  This was why they SOLD it in the first place, because THEY didn't care to keep the original dump with the key.

LiteOn Drives - Now Flashable As Of December 24th, 2008.

You cannot play retail games, or backups from the attached or external Hard Disk, PERIOD! The November 2008 System update (NXE) allows game dumps to the HDD, but still requires the original to boot & play the game.  This is not a HACK, it is an option that M$ is allowing.

Xbox Live: It is never safe to connect your 360 to the Internet if you play backups, or especially games before they are released.  The console farms information for transmission when you DO plug it in.  You do not need to be signed in either.  No one in the forums works for Microsoft, so don't ask about it.  If you need to ask, call Microsoft and ask them.  You do all this at YOUR own work, don't make it someone else's problem.  If banned, it is a Console ban; that console can never use Live again. It has nothing to do with your GamerTAG, or the hard disk (which you can move from console to console).

Burning Xbox 360 games in Linux - http://www.eurasia.nu/wiki/index.php?pa … 0LinuxBurn

Edited & Error Corrected 9/9/08

By: Michael Cowan @ http://blog.reloadsystems.net/2007/02/0 … -in-linux/

After recently flashing my Xbox 360 DVD drive, I set about burning images using my Fedora Core 6 linux box. There are many guides available on how to burn games (mostly for Windows) but there is so much mystery and superstition surrounding the process, that it is hard to separate fact from fiction and come up with suitable Linux equivalents. Well, one week and nine very expensive coasters later I have my solution.

You will need

        * Dual layer DVD burner and DVD+R DL media
        * A backup image (and ss.bin etc if required)
        * growisofs - http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/tools/
        * imgbpatch.jar - http://reloadsystems.net/download/imgbpatch.jar

The first hurdle comes when you realize that not all images are created the same way. Most noticeable is a rip that is not patched with the security sector (ss.bin). It should be noted however, that most images already contain the security sector and this step should be skipped. To merge ss.bin and game.iso into a file called IMAGE.000, the following command can be used:

dd if=/dev/zero of=blank.iso bs=2048 count=129823 && cat blank.iso ss.bin game.iso> IMAGE.000

This will create an image consisting of 265877504 blank bytes, the security sector and finally the game image.

The final size of IMAGE.000 should be 7572881408 bytes.

To actually burn the image, the iso must be made compatible with growisofs. This is something that CloneCD users do not need to do and is a cause of great confusion for those using other software. Again, many images are already prepared, and do not require patching but unlike the merge doing so with an already patched image will not break it. This is carried out using a neat little java app called imgbpatch.jar (catchy, isn't it?). To use it the following command can be used:

java -jar imgbpatch.jar IMAGE.000

Now you have a workable image, the next step is the burn which is carried out using growisofs. There are a lot of threads around that claim only a Pioneer 111D with Verbatim +R media will work, which I have found to be complete hocus pocus. I use both LiteOn? and Samsung drives with Memorex and Mr. DVD media and not had any problems. The burn command is a very neat one and carries out everything you need. The important things are the speed (slow, to increase the chances of a solid burn), the line break (1913760 for 360 games) and the DVD compatibility flag (bitsetting = burns DVD+R data as "DVD-ROM" to increase media compatibility with non PC hardware). To do all this the following command is used:

growisofs -use-the-force-luke=dao -use-the-force-luke=break:1913760 -dvd-compat -speed=2 -Z /dev/dvd=IMAGE.000

Of course /dev/dvd can be replaced with any DVD DL drive and IMAGE.000 with any image filename. Not all DVD burners will support the speed setting but it should still slow things down e.g. on my LiteOn? drive, a setting of 2 results is 4x speed!?! The burn process can take anywhere up to about 40mins.

Another handy ability is being able to verify the burn. An MD5SUM of the DVD can be calculated using the following command:

dd if=IMAGE.000 bs=2048 count=3697696 | md5sum

Re: MAIN HELP - MAIN MENU - LINKS - TYPICAL NEWBIE 1ST QUESTION ANSWERS

MAKING XBOX1 BACKUPS

This tutorial is for making a backup of an original Xbox game, burning that backup to a blank double layer DVD, and playing it on a Firmware-Hacked Xbox 360. Please note that this tutorial will only work if EVERYTHING is done perfectly. There are many ways to screw this up, so please read this through beforehand, follow all directions, and please ask questions first if you do not understand a step.

This tutorial requires all of these:

1. An original Xbox game disc that is on the Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility List
2. An Xbox 360 that is modified with a DVD drive firmware hack released by Commodore4Eva.
3. A double-layer DVD Recorder installed in your PC that can bitset/booktype +R media to DVD-ROM and is otherwise compatible with your hacked Xbox 360.
4. Blank double-layer DVD media that is compatible with your hacked Xbox 360.
5. Either the TS-H943 Samsung Xbox 360 DVD Drive, Hitachi 47d with f900 "SS-ripping" firmware, or access to the Xbox 360 version Security Sector file for your Xbox 1 game, of the same region, extracted using the Xbox 360 TS-H943 Samsung DVD drive (xtrm0800) or the Hitachi 47d (f900).
6. A PC DVD Drive in which you can take off the lid and use it to hotswap discs without hitting the eject button.
7. You need a large movie DVD over 7.5GB in size that will be used for hotswapping discs.
8. ISOBuster
9. CloneCD
10. Carranzafp's SS Patcher 1.5

Software Installation

Install the programs that you downloaded and extract SS Patcher from the ZIP archive.

Hotswap Preparation

You will need to take the case off of your computer, take the DVD drive out of the case, and open it up. You will need to easily be able to access this drive, and have the ability to lift up the lid during operation and swap the disc with a new one, and put the lid back on the drive. If you are lucky, you may have a drive with an easy sliding metal bar that has the necessary drive magnet to hold discs in place while they are spinning. I was lucky and had a dead BenQ drive, so I took the magnet off of that to use for hotswapping.

Hotswapping:
Either close the lid on your hotswap DVD drive or have your magnet ready. Push the actual eject button on the front to eject the tray and insert your large movie DVD. Wait until Windows recognizes the disk and close any autoruns/installations/players. First, open up SS Patcher but just leave it there, sitting on the desktop. Don't do anything with it yet. Open up ISOBuster. The first thing you want to do is change your read retries to 1 so that when you encounter disc sector errors, it will only retry copying them one time. This should save some time. Go to Options, Communication, and Read Settings. Set the bars all the way to the left so that they are both set to 1. Then hit Ok.

In ISOBuster, the left side of the program shows you a file "tree" containing the disc contents. The top of the tree should be DVD. Right-click on this, and select Extract DVD , then select User Data (*.tao, *.iso).

It will bring up a browse window asking you where you want to save the file and what to name it. In the File name: bar, type "IMAGE.000" without the quotes. DO NOT HIT SAVE!

You are not supposed to hit Save, because it will start ripping the DVD if you do. You just want to type the file name in the bar and that's it. If you were too quick and hit Save, cancel it, and start this entire tutorial over again. If you did not hit Save, the window should still be up. Now, switch over to SS Patcher that you opened up earlier. Go to Drive Tools, select Mini dvdinfo pro. Choose your DVD drive from the drop down list and you should see a list of information about your disc. Notice the layerbreak value, write this down or type it into notepad, we will use that later.

If you type it in notepad, just minimize it, get it out of the way and don't mess with it. Now, you should still have SS Patcher open and displaying your drive information. In the General Options to the right, select Stop Drive Spin.

Your large movie DVD will stop spinning. Take off the lid or drive magnet and take out the disc, without hitting eject on your DVD drive. Put your Original Xbox game in the drive, and replace the drive lid or magnet so that when it spins back up again, it will be stable. Once you have double-checked that the lid is on completely, go back to SS Patcher. In the General Options to the right, select Start Drive Spin. You should hear your disc start spinning up.

Ripping The Game:
You can close SS Patcher for now, we won't need it again until later. Go back to ISOBuster. It should still be at the Save window where you entered IMAGE.000. Now you can hit Save. The disc will start ripping. Wait there for about 5-10 minutes, as the drive will encounter some normal disc sector read errors, and you will need to tell ISOBuster what to do. At around 7%, your computer will start running really slow (hopefully it doesn't lock up) and you will get the following error in ISOBuster. You will need to select Replace with dummy data, check the box at the bottom that says Always apply Selection, and hit Selection.

Now let your computer be, it will take some time to rip the game, as it is making a byte-by-byte exact copy of it. It usually takes a couple hours to rip a game. i would recommend not using your computer while it is ripping, as ISOBuster tends to make everything run really slow. When it is finally finished, it will probably ask you to save an IMAGE.cue file, we won't need it, so you can either save it or not, it doesn't matter.

Verifying a Good Rip:
Open SS Patcher and go to File, Open Image, and open the IMAGE.000 you just saved your rip as. Now, go to Image Tools, select Image Browser to see the contents of the image. There should at least be a default.xbe file in the list, and should be other files/folders in the image. Here is what my Halo 2 NTSC looked like.

Making the IMAGE.DVD file:
Remember that Layerbreak value I told you to write down or type in notepad? Here is where you will use it. Open a new notepad, so that it is blank. Type in the following, and add 1 to the layerbreak value that you wrote down earlier. For example, my layerbreak value was 2029727. What I would write in notepad is the following:

Add 1 to your layerbreak value and type the IMAGE.000 on the second line. You will want to save this in the same folder as your game rip and change the Save as type: to All Files. Save as IMAGE.dvd.

You're almost done, you just need to patch the raw image (IMAGE.000) with the Xbox 360 version security sector for the game you are ripping. If you have an Xbox 360 Samsung TS-H943 DVD drive, you can extract the security sector yourself using the xtrm0800.bin firmware. I will not be giving instructions for extracting the security sector. There are other guides on the internet for extracting the security sector, I prefer Geebee's Complete Xbox 360 Firmware Tutorial v18.

If you have an Xbox 360 Hitachi-LG DVD Drive version 47d, you can use the recently released f900 "SS-extracting" firmware to dump the SS.

If you have any other version DVD drive, you will have to get the security sector somewhere else (NO FILE REQUESTS ON THE COMMENTS, FORUMS, or at XBOX-SCENE!). The security sector is copyrighted material, and would be illegal under the DMCA to distribute freely. Commodore4Eva is working on a Hitachi firmware to extract the security sector from discs.

Patching Your Image:
Open up SS Patcher and load up your IMAGE.000. Go to Image Tools, select Patch Image. You will need to patch the image at the PSN offset of 605FF (it may already be set to this value, mine was). Hit the ellipsis (...) button to browse for your security sector and hit Patch Now !!! It will give you a warning, asking for a final confirmation, hit Yes.

Bitsetting/Booktype:
Put a blank double-layer DVD in your DVD recorder and set your booktype to DVD-ROM. (Pioneer burners will do this automatically). I will not go in-depth into setting the booktype, because there are too many different brands of DVD recorders. I would search on Google for your drive's model number and see if there is a firmware or program specifically built for your drive to set the booktype.

Burning Your Disc:
You are now ready to burn your disc with CloneCD. Open up CloneCD, choose Write Image to File, and select the IMAGE.dvd file (the one you made in Notepad). Select the correct DVD recorder if you have more than one DVD drive installed, and burn the disc at a compatible speed. I wouldn't go over 2.4x. Wait for the disc to finish burning, and you should be all set.

Place the disc in your firmware hacked Xbox 360 to enjoy playing Xbox 1 games on it.

MAKING XBOX1 BACKUPS W/XB1 DVD DRIVE

This tutorial is for making a backup of an original Xbox game using an Xbox 1 DVD drive, burning that backup to a blank double layer DVD, and playing it on a Firmware-Hacked Xbox 360.

2. An Xbox 360 that is modified with a DVD drive firmware hack released by Commodore4Eva (or a GaryOpa/Birdy release based on C4E).
6. An Xbox 1 DVD-ROM drive that can be installed in your desktop PC and detected in Windows. Thomson drives will not work.
7. The tools required to open your Xbox. (Torx 20, Torx 10)
8. ISOBuster
9. CloneCD
10. TheSpecialist's Xbox 1 DVD Unlocker

Software Installation

Install ISOBuster and CloneCD.

Connect Xbox 1 Drive to PC

You will first need to connect your Xbox 1 DVD-ROM drive to your computer. Your drive also needs to be detected in Windows. Thomson drives do not detect in Windows. Turn off your computer and Xbox, and open your Xbox. Leave the DVD drive yellow power cables hooked up to the Xbox, but unplug the IDE cable and connect the drive to your computer. The drive is set to "Cable-Select" mode by the firware of the drive, so the drive must be the only device attached to the IDE cable or other devices must be set to CS mode as well. Both the Xbox and PC should still be off. Make sure there is a video cable plugged into the back of the Xbox and turn both the Xbox and PC on at the same time. The drive should be detected by Windows as a "CD drive."

Unlocking the Drive:
Push eject on the front of the Xbox to eject the Xbox drive. Insert the game you wish to rip in the drive and close the tray. Wait for Windows to detect the disc. It may autoplay the video on the disc. Close out of any autoplays/installations/media players. Open TheSpecialist's unlocker and select your drive from the list and hit unlock.

You can close out of the unlocker.

Ripping The Game Data:
Open up ISOBuster and check to see if the drive unlocked correctly, you may get an error.  Hit cancel. The first thing you want to do is change your read retries to 1 so that when you encounter disc sector errors, it will only retry copying them one time. This should save some time. Go to Options, Communication, and Read Settings. Set the bars all the way to the left so that they are both set to 1. Then hit Ok.

In the "tree" listing to the left, right-click "DVD" at the top. Select "Extract DVD ", then "User Data (*.tao, *.iso)".

Save the file as "game.iso"

Let the game start ripping, but wait for at least a few minutes until you get an error. It should look like the following:

Select "Replace with dummy data" , "Always apply selection" , and "Selection." Let the game finish ripping. It usually takes around an hour. When it is finished, it will probably ask you to save a "game.cue" file. This file is not necessary and will not be used, so it is up to you whether you want to save it or not.

Combining/Patching the ISO:
The ISO must be built using the Xbox 1 "ISOBuilder" batch file included in Commodore4Eva's Xbox 360 firmware releases. Copy the game.iso into this folder. You will also need the Xbox 360 version security sector of the game. This can only be currently extracted using an Xbox 360 TSH943 Samsung DVD drive flashed with the xtrm0800 firmware of an Xbox 360 Hitachi 47D drive flashed with the f900 firmware. There are tutorials for extracting the SS using these drives. I prefer Geebee's tutorials. Once you have the game.iso and the Xbox 360 version ss.bin for your game in the Xbox 1 Isobuilder folder, run the "build.bat" file and it will make an IMAGE.000 file for you.

If you have any questions, please ask them in the forums.

Re: MAIN HELP - MAIN MENU - LINKS - TYPICAL NEWBIE 1ST QUESTION ANSWERS

LITE-ON FLASH GUIDE

There is ALOT of new information to digest, in regards to this entire project, and the utilization of the LiteOn IXtreme firmware. With this release, also includes a new FirmTool (version 1.3), a beta version of JungleFlasher, which is a new GUI based all-in-one flash that includes a firmware tool, DVDKEY32, MTK flashing and Hitachi support. Please note that this software IS BETA and will not function 100%. Yes, there will be plenty of bugs smile JungleFlasher logs all errors/actions and will ask you to save a log upon exit. If you have a error please help them improve the software by emailing them the log file to JungleFlasher@gmail.com!  At this moment, they have had quirky issues in regards to VIA chipsets and flashing/reading/erasing the LiteOn drive. Please pay attention to the 2nd prompt in particular after hitting the Lite-On-Erase button. Power cycling the drive at the correct time is very important for VIA users. If the VIA polls the drive after erase, it WILL freeze/lock your computer. Tools for DOS erase/flash/key/spoof are included in this release for any users having difficulties within windows.

JungleFlasher REQUIREMENTS:
-PortIO32.exe - you MUST run this exe to install PortIO onto your system! (included in release)if you have issues installing in vista please reference here: http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/xbox-36 … vista.html

If you have a x64 system PortIO is not currently supported. Please use a x32 system to modify your drive.

-.NET 2.0 or above

Please note that at this time, IXtreme 1.5 still requires the utilization of a RS232 to TTL serial hardware, or a popular variant such as CK3 with Probe or Maximus Xtractor. This is necessary to extract the key/inquiry/identify .bin files. These files are neccessary for spoofing & gathering your key, even if you are just flashing the 1.5 IXtreme to a LiteOn drive. They contain serial information that is required for proper identification and security related issues. Note that spoofing to previous versions of IXtreme are NOT stealth, and is not supported.

If you have a CK3 please refer to this tutorial for dvdkey extraction: http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/liteon_windows.htm
If you have a Maximus Xtractor please refer to this tutorial for dvdkey extraction: http://www.maximusgames.net/360xtractor.php

Xbox Scene has compiled a tutorial on flashing the Liteon drive prior to the release of JungleFlasher. Tutorial is located here: http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/iriez/lite-on … torial.pdf

Instructions on flashing a LiteOn with JungleFlasher are as follows:
1: Hookup LiteON to sata port and power drive
2: In JungleFlasher select MTK Flash 32 Tab.
3: Select correct port (see above tutorials for figuring out the correct port)
4: Hit Lite-On-Erase button. NOTE - This is done AFTER you have already successfully transferred your inquiry.bin / identify.bin / key.bin files!!! Please read the Prompts VERY carefully! It is important to power cycle the drive at the correct moment to prevent your computer from freezing with VIA cards.
5: After power cycle, drive should return status 0x72 and display Flash information. If it does not, click Device ID and power cycle as prompted. If still not successful then you did not successfully erase the drive.
6: Once Flash information is displayed, you are ready to write! Go to firmware tool 32 tab and select "Load from dump files" and select your key/inquiry/identify .bin files. Then select ix15-liteon.bin after pressing "Open Target Firmware". Press "Spoof Source To Target". Then "Save to File" and save your CFW.bin.
7: Go back to MTK Flash 32 tab and select Write. It should automatically take the liteon firmware you loaded in the Firmware 32 tab and flash to the drive. It will automatically verify flash. If verified your done smile

If write verification fails, then there is likely a issue with JungleFlasher and your sata chipset. Please use DosFlash(info)(info) to flash the drive with the CFW.bin with the correct spoofed information. If the drive is successfully erased, dosflash will see the flash information and will be capable of writing!

DOS Instructions:
You will need to have your key.bin/inquiry.bin/identify.bin handy using the windows applications! If this is the case, please use firmtool 1.3 or JungleFlasher to prepare your ix15-liteon.bin with the correct dvdkey and spoofed serial information(inquiry/identify). At this moment, DOS based dvdkey/inquiry/identify extraction is not fully supported by TEAM JUNGLE. There is DOS based instructions for the CK3 by xecuter in the tutorial above.
1: Run L-O-Eras.EXE with the correct port specified (see tutorial above for Lite-On-Erase.exe information)
2: Run DosFlash.exe
3: Select correct number that represents your sata port / LiteOn drive. Note that the drive has to be successfully erased in order for DosFlash to see the drive!
4: Select write, and choose your liteon firmare .bin that you have prepared with your dvdkey / correctly spoofed identify / inquiry data!
5: Write, plug in drive and play xbox smile

A new DosFlash will be released very shortly that will include LiteOn DVDKey extraction and dummy.bin capabilities. Note that firmtool uses dummy.bin to correctly spoof information from dumped key/inquiry/identify into other 1.5 firmwares. At this moment JungleFlasher and DVDKey32 support the dummy.bin feature!

"Built with (MS) XDK" or "Built with (MS) SDK"

What does it mean ?

It means the software you are trying to download has been compiled with the official Microsoft® SDK (System Development Kit) for Xbox.  This compiler is only available to Microsoft approved programmers and can not be used to build 'homebrew software'. That's what makes the software you want to download 'illegal' (not in our eyes - as the software itself has completely been written by the programmer - but in the eyes of the law it is illegal). You can often find these programs on irc channels or newsgroups - we can't help you to find them , so please don't mail  or ask us about it.

How To Make Xbox 360 backups Using The Console DVD Drive By: Troy2000

After all the weeks of trouble I went through to get my games to backup, I decided I would write this tutorial, hopefully to help out people who (like me) found this task to be almost impossible big_smile.

This might also be useful for people who (a) Don't want to buy a pre-flashed Samsung, or (b) Have a spare non-working 360 around.  This tutorial will tell you how to make backups of your 360 games, using only your Hitachi 360 DVD drive.  As it turns out, you cannot make backups using ISO-Buster, or Xbox Backup Creator with this drive, because the game partition cannot be unlocked.  Instead I will be using a different app, which many people are probably familiar with wink.

OK, lets get started...

You're going to need:

- 1 Torx Size 10 Screwdriver -
- 1 Xbox 360 with Hitachi drive, working or bricked -
- 1 Decent Length SATA cable -
- 1 Small Flat-Head Screwdriver -
- 1 PC With SATA Inputs On Motherboard -
- 1 Slax Custom ModeB CD (Optional if your drive has latest FW) -
- 1 Copy Of WxRipper -
- 1 Windows/Vista Based OS Installed -
- 1 Data/Video DVD+R DL Atleast 7.5GB In Size -
- 1 Philips-Head Screwdriver -
- 1-2Hrs Of Spare Time -

First you will need to set everything up, here are the download locations for the various applications required:

Slax Custom ModeB CD: http://rapidshare.com/files/8454344/pSlax21.iso.html

WxRipper:http://www.dwl.xbox-scene.com/xbox360pc … er-1.2.rar

(Optional, if you can modify your own) Required Layout File:http://xbox-fusion.net/layout.rar

Once you have these files, you will need to open your 360.  Here is a good tutorial:

http://www.anandtech.com/systems/showdo … 10&p=3  -  Only go as far as the second page.

Now that you have the 360 opened, you will need to connect it to the power brick and a video cable.  Place the 360 near your PC and connect the SATA cable from your 360 drive to your PC's SATA socket.  You may need to remove the drive from the 360 first, to make sure the cable will reach, and that you have enough access to the drive.  Next, use the philips-head screwdriver to remove the four screws at the sides of the 360 drive.

Now you have two options:  If you have the latest FW, follow (a).  If you have a slightly older FW, follow (b).

A:  Power on your 360, and eject the DVD drive.  Then disconnect the power brick from the 360, so that the drive stays open when the power is cut-off.  Power on your 360 and PC.  The 360 drive is now in ModeB.  This means it can be read in windows like a regular DVD drive.  When you reach windows, your drive will be detected and installed.

                                                                                        OR

B:  Burn the Slax Custom ISO to a CD, eject it, and turn off your PC.  Turn on your 360 and PC.  Insert the Slax CD and wait for the PC to boot from it.  You will get a screen asking you what you want to do, just wait, and the software will handle it's self.  If you watch the next boot messages, you should see something like "HL-3120L Found!  Switching to modeB!"  After many more boot messages, you will see a text login screen.  Reboot your PC ONLY and eject the CD.  When you reach windows, it should say new device found, and install it for you.  Now if you go into "My Computer", you will see your 360 drive listed there as a DVD drive.

Next, you will need to unzip the WxRipper package to somewhere.  The desktop is a good place.  In the "My Computer" window, choose eject for your 360 drive and insert your 7.5GB DVD.  It would be a good idea to check that the 360 drive is not half open from a lack of screws before you do this.  There is nothing worse that a ruined swap disc! wink.  If all is good, close the 360 drive and wait for windows to detect a disc change.
Run WxRipper from where you unzipped it, and choose your drive from the drop-down menu.  Then click the Hotswap menu and choose "Find Magic Number".  You will get a few lines of numbers in the box below, but for now, they don't have any real relevance, since we are going to replace them anyway.  Go back into the Hotswap menu and choose the option which says "Stop Drive".  You should now hear your 360 drive slowing down.  When it has stopped, remove the cover of the 360 drive (which should now be screw-less), and take out the DVD, putting any 360 game of your choice in it's place.  Replace the cover, making sure it is fully closed.  Back in WxRipper, go back to the Hotswap menu and choose "Spin Drive".  In the file menu, choose "Open Layout File...", navigate to where you downloaded your Layout file to, and open it.  This numbers in the box below will have changed now, and you will notice that a new line has been added.  You will notice that the 3rd line now reads "89087", this is because there is an error at "89088" on all games, which will cause the ripping process to crash.  Before the numbers are either the letters C, or D.  This just tells WxRipper, wether to copy a certain part of the disc, or fake it.

Now for the final task.  Open the file menu and choose "Start Dump".  Navigate to where you want to save the backup and click save.  Your game will now be backed up.  While this is happening, don't open any other programs.  Leave the PC to do it's work.  Maybe you should get a coffee?  This is going to take a while big_smile.  To my knowledge, this tutorial can be used to backup any game, with no errors.  The procedure is exactly the same for every game.

I hope this tutorial will be of some use to someone smile.
