well i started my faceplate design today...ill take pics of the proccess and the end result... heres what i have so far...

Items:
White Primer Paint
Florecent Orange Paint
Clear Coat
Light sand paper (for roughing up the smooth spots)
Tape to cover up the Red laser report(or whatever) and the power button
Painter mask(cuz spraying paint isent good for the lungs...lol)

and today i started the sanding and taping, tonight i will put a coat of primer on and then tommorow start the painting process( a couple coats to make it nice and bright)

the faceplate will have a base orange. and then i think i might do 2 pin stiprs up the cent of place...or should i do black and pin stripe orange...im not sure yet... o well...

ok well today is the final day...im putting on the clear coats today...about 3 or 4... so by the end of the day ill have a pick of the final product on here....its looking really good(tho i had no black paint for the pin stripes so its only orange...

its finially done and looks realy cool.... here are the picks....(sucks no stripes tho...darn missing black paint...lol

now it makes me want to paint the whole case....or get one online and paint it and then swap it out...hehe

yea i want to buy a case of ebay(found some for like 30-40 bucks, this way i will have a back up if i mess up or break something...lol

or, just tell ms youve snapped it trying to change to another ltd ed faceplate and ask where plain white ones are available in which they shud send out a new one;)

Anyone found a way to paint the power button and keep the lights shining through? Only way I can think of is to hand paint it, then clearcoat over it.

Yea I used real thin tape, tape it, then use a precision knife and cut along the edges, here's pic http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t105 … 1175305653
If you look really close, you can see I missed paint it just by lil' tiny bit.

I meant the actual button itself. It has that little circle on it, and Kit's going nuts trying to find a way to keep it clean. I keep telling him, just buy a black one, but he insists there has to be a way to do it. Men...

Yeah, I told him as long as he has the ring, it's all good, but he'd like to find a way to preserve the center. Says he's seen mods done with it intact, I told him that they bought a faceplate the color the base was needed as, then built from there.
