well the old one simply couldn't run it. the new one has better graphics, new engine, a whole crap load of new stuff, so it's not capabile or running it. and i don't think he was talking about that anyway (but of course, i could be wrong)

Star Wars: KOTOR2
Works as normal. faster loading but bugs in the sound sometimes. Republic commando demo is also playable with the only problem being the textures on the walls looking appaling.
Offline
halo 2 isa bit blocky. you could tell that it shouldn't look that way, but other than that it runs fine. te blockyness sometimes may make the game LOOK laggy, when it's just a graphical thing

Offline
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Works perfectly. Benefits from some slightly faster loading times
Obviously you didn't play this that much on the 360. There were serious sound glitches and LAG in the battle sequences (:? wtf?). Faster loading didn't help when the game was a bitch to play.
Its sad because this was my favorite Xbox game!

is there a graphic difference? i'venoticed that some games look a bit different than they do on the xbox

did somebody ask for that list? sorry if i sound like a prick, but it just seems a bit out of place

Offline
you did in another post
anyways, i could have edited the original post in this topic but i just posted it instead. if you didnt ask for it, it must have been the other person in the thread.

owning both versions of halo 2, i have also came to the conclusion that the standard edition works better and smoother than the Ltd Edition.
Before you say anything, Yes I know both game discs are the same and it is just the addition of the DVD in the Ltd Edition tin but having not been able to connect to games with the L.E. I think the standard version is better coz its never given me any trouble on live
thoughts :?

well as long as one works fine. but out of curiousity, why do you have two copies of the game?

Offline
I was waiting for that. well here goes...
I brought the standard edition on launch day and then towards the launch of 360 i started buying up all the rare/quality titles i didnt have. I say a preowned version of H2 Ltd Ed in almost perfect condition, knowing it had bonus features and stuff i brought it dirt cheap. I didnt really buy it for the game, more for the free dvd

I just wanted to know if it's possible to play backed up xbox games on the 360...Im sorry if this question has been asked already.
Offline
I never even thought to try. Luckily I had a few back-up discs lying around. And it appears not. SSX 3 wouldn't work, and that has been listed above as confirmed working.
But then I suppose it would have been obvious that it didn't. Just thought I'd try for ya ![]()

Offline
i wouldn't think it would work this any game, just with the backup, although, i'm sure there's another way of making it work

thx for the reply guys.

so far i've attempted to play 2 games from the list and they don't play
Darkwatch doesn't play
and neither does Tetris Worlds (Live Version)
dunno aboout you guys, but i'm getting mighty pissed at microsoft's lazy approach to backwards compatibility, it should've been from the start open the emulator up and fix each game one at a time, and not this crappy 1 game profile at a time crap, if bill gates knew anything at all about programmers, he'd release a somewhat beta version of the software then declare it WIP (Work in progress)
C'mon bill, get with the program and put out an all games profile

This list will only play if you have xbox live. This is the only way to get the update as you can only download the original november update from the official website
Offline
i'm on Xbox live, and when i 1st went on Xbox live it updated the emulator it's now on 1.2, and so far i've only been able to play some of the games on the list
Offline
i got 1.2 from the website
good thing now i h ave my 50% san andreas game save copied over.

did you do it the way that was posted on the homepage? coz i got 80% sitting on my old xbox and cant be bothered to start again and cant do it that way
anyway quadster, it seems to be a problem for other people as well. Mortal Kombat is apparently like this and was available on 1.1 but has been cut in 1.2 :x. My advice is make sure you check your respective countries xbox.com and view the list from there as i beleive i posted the Euro one if that helps
. but its not just you having problems, its a whole gaming community

this is interesting, in a recent email i got from the Gamespot News letter, which i imagine most people here who use gamespot got, there was a bit in the mail which says "Single player is working great" it's just multiplayer thats the problem" in that case why not release an update for every single player game, and deal with the issues of online play as work in progress, that makes more sense to me than trying to get everything working at once and waiting ages....i mean that would count for most games out there....i'd love to be able to play outrun 2, MA 1&2, PGR 1&2, Powerdrome, Defiance, MGS2S, Timesplitters 2 and most of the other games i like
C'mon Microsoft make with the updates......get those SP updates out ASAP, and carry on working on working on the MP Xbox games...atleast that'll whet an appetite or 2

totally agree
theyve done it with tetris (offline play only) and have had issues with the bonus disc features in jade empire so if thats the problem, most gamers will be happy with that.
I didnt have live last gen so i never played any of my old games on live- i just want the opportunity to keep playing them what with my massive collection and all
Offline
well best of luck to you with that, i don't know how you could look at that entired collection, knowing that you can't get them online

Offline
well i managed to play the likes of halo 2, doom 3, nhl 06, crimson skies, PGR, Ghost Recon, Juiced etc all offline last gen and didnt complain one bit. now i know what ive missed out on, but its way more gutting to think not having the oportunity to play those games without digging out the old box again
