Alright lets start this.

I have xbox 360 arcade. I bought it around January or so. So I'm guessing this would be lite on drive?

I haven't opened my xbox 360 so I can't tell you what drive I have. I need to know whats better, flashing or mod chip. Since this xbox is for my little brother who doesn't play xbox live or ever will I need to know whats safer and the risks. I will be finding someone to add the mod chip for me....

Flash or Mod chip?...which would be safer\better?
What are the risks?
If mod chip what brand?
If Flashing, give me updated tutorials.

I live in Hamilton, Ontario...hope someone lives near me to help me out

If you aren't going online with it, then flash it, it'll be cheaper and perfectly safe, unless you cock up the modding process of course but that could happen if you install a mod chip too! Don't attempt either unless you are confident. There are perfectly good tutorials on this site to accomplish the task dude.

I just opened it, my warranty sticker still perfect condition and out of the way

I looked it up and its Benq drive. Any tutorials for that?

I found the textbook2008 download crazy helpful, the info might be slightly out of date, but its from 2008 and will still give you a great idea of what you're doing. If the link below doesn't work, go to 360mods.net, it's the 3rd link down under xbox360 tutorials. Has a whole section for that drive type. Other than that, check the "hacks" forums here for threads on your drive. Try checking around first man, the info on this site seems pretty legit and everyone is pretty helpful if you do a little research first.

I'll look at the site though. I have no tools like ck3 or probes.

Apparently I don't need it if my firmware is 8xxxxc or w\e...how would I check if I do have that.
