I need help, I flashed my 360 a while back with cfw but the drive would play originals but not backups. Now the drive has stopped working completely it wont open, or read discs, also the laser just stays on at times and does not move. So i want to buy a new drive but I'm not sure if i saved the original key. I have a 360fwtoolbox48 folder on my comp. And inside is a folder names "orig_fw" and inside of that is a file named original.bin. Is that the key or is there a way i can tell if it is? or maybe an easier way of fixing my 360?

get jungle flasher and open the firmware in that and it will tell you every thing about it i.e what firmware, drive and the all important key.

in jungle flasher hit "open source firmware" and locate your orig.bin

Then hit "open target firmware" and locate ixtreme firmware for that drive

Then hit "spoof to target" this will copy all the information from your orig.bin to the CFW.bin including your key

then hit "save to file" and save it in what ever format you need depending on how your flashing your drive

flash you drive with what ever you prefer to use iprep or jungleflasher.

Latest ixtreme firmware

Hitachi -- 1.51 (supports wave 4)
Samsung 1.61 (supports wave 4)
BenQ 1.61 (supports wave 4)
Lite-on 74 1.6 (supports wave 4 only with one shot boot disc)
Lite-on 83 1.6 (supports wave 4 only with one shot boot disc)

I have another question. By following a tutorial like this http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/781382 i can flash my drive using only jungle flasher? I've been reading and i read something about needing a usb drive and extremebootmaker in order to flash a samsung. Do i need that also or can i just use the guide i from the link above and flash the drive?

jungleflasher can flash all drives thats all the software you need apart from some drivers

Can you only update your hacked firmware if you have the original? I defiantly lost mine.

EDIT: Nevermind I can extract it from the firmware thats on it now. Or am I mistaken? Never had an xbox last long enough to have to update the firmware.

You can extract what's on it NOW, to obtain your key. You would have to SEARCH the net for the original firmware if you don't have it.

I would like to know which drive is best to buy the samsung or the benq or another? I know verbatims are supposed to be the best but I have some memorex that i would like to use first. And i have read that benq's are better because they have a wider variety of media they can use. So would a benq be better because it would read memorex easier, and save me money?
