Hi There,
I repair RROD consoles as a side job, and I have received one without a DVD Drive and with no key. Would I be able to chuck a normal PC DVD Drive in there (converting the power cable of course), and play movies from it? Seeing as there is no hope of playing games on it again, I will basically use it as a networked Media Centre and playing DVDs directly would be an added bonus.
Thank You! ![]()

No, you must have an XB360 drive, and must have Key to play games.
You can buy a broken drive just for streaming, or any working XB360 DVD drive to play CD and DVDs.

Yes I realise you must have Xbox360 drive with key for games. Was hoping there was no validation just for playing movies. Ah well, will have to fork out for a Xbox360 drive.
Thanks for the reply.

There is no validation, I said that! You only need the key for games.
You can't use a PC drive no matter what the reason.
