Sometimes when i put in fallout 3 (iXtreme 1.6) it spends a while reading the disc then gives a Dirty disc error followed by another error that says cant detect HDD. So i reset the xbox and it goes to the main menu as if my hard drive isnt plugged in (no profiles or DLC). So i turn off the xbox and take out the harddrive and connect it back and then start up the xbox. It goes to the XBL menu but then asks me to update the dashboard and all my games require their game updates again. Why does this happen every so often?

sounds like a dodgy HDD
as for your disc's proberbly bad media or burn speed to fast.

What? No it doesn't, just your Gamer Score, and achievements. I have never seen it restore my actual game SAVE when I recovered it to another console. I always had to MOVE it to a memory card, then MOVE it to the other console. I am pretty sure, it does NOT recover saves, because that data is on the HDD, not their servers.
