120gb hard-drive problem

I purchased a xbox 360 transfer cable , to hack my gamerscore ect tongue
I connected my xbox elite hard-drive to the back of my computer, and after a few minutes it came up on my toolbar your new hardware is installed and ready to use ...
So, i opened up xplorer 360 extreme 2 , and went to open up my hard-drive , however , it froze for roughly 3 minutes , and i then recieved the error : '' Could not find FATX drive to open ''
Out of curiosity , i plugged in my spare 20gb hard-drive and opened that in xplorer 360- which worked, and all 3 partitions opened up!
This is a concerning problem, and i simply cannot think of a solution, i hope someone here has a solution, thanks.
(in addition - i am using windows xp)

Re: 120gb hard-drive problem

Do you have Xplorer Xtreme?  You need a newer version to use the 120GB drives.  If not, download it.  Open Xplorer, go to help, then ABOUT, and see what version you are at.

I am at Beta 6, Xtreme build 2, 120GB is read fine.

Re: 120gb hard-drive problem

Yeah i tried that one too, still no luck.
Is there certain drivers i need to install?
I also go onto device managment , and there is a yellow exclimation mark next to the usb mass storage device , and then i go onto it and it says ''This device cannot start (code 10) ''

Re: 120gb hard-drive problem

Thats Windows 7, not XP, could that be the problem?

Re: 120gb hard-drive problem

Try another port, a USB 2.0 port.

Listen to see if the drive actually SPINS UP.

There can be many reasons that us happening, it is not a driver issue, it is a hardware issue; it was detected, but cannot START.   IT could be the USB transfer cable

Re: 120gb hard-drive problem

The drive does ''spin up'' and i already have it in a USB 2.0 port
I dont think there is an issue with the cable , as i tried my spare xbox hard-drive , which is 20gb and it worked perfect, with all 3 partitions showing up.
As an alternitive, is it possible for me to recover my profile on the 20gb , and do the hacking on that , and the recovering it onto my 120gb?
thank you for your help by the way
