i am no hacker, ive been around this scene for a while though and am more into the critical thinking sort of thing.
I hope im not going to get flamed for being an idiot but i had an idea, more or less thinking outside the box. I would like to hear some input regarding.
So ive heard people pondering the idea of a master code disk in order to play backups without actually having to burn games. But with recent updates in running linux and the fact that a 360 is essentially a computer would running a homebrew virtual drive make sense at all?
if there was a way to make a virtual drive read a patched iso and mount it to install the game to your hdd, if pcs have been doing this for years i dont see an issue with it being too many tasks for a 360 to handle, i think the main issue would be getting the 360 to dual boot the 360 "os" and linux at the same time.
dont mean to make this sound like a rant, but i figure if no one else has thought of this approach i would throw it out there.

the xbox's security is hard to bypass so it isn't 'just' like a computer. However, your idea sounds plausible but who do you expect to start working on it? there isn't as much buzz surrounding homebrew for the xbox as for other consoles (one being the psp).
if it was an easy hack people would have found it out.

The new JTAG hack, if this works out, will be the first step, but only if you have full access to the hardware. The main problem is you never get full access to the GPU.
XBOX360 security is that which WAY surpasses that of a PC. The PC does not have that security, or we would be using all canned applications for PC use, and not free use of the PC itself.
Do not compare the XBOX with a PC, you won't get anywhere doing that.
Xbox360 is a little more vulnerable than the PS3, but all we have are backups from DVD, after FOUR YEARS! It's been THREE years for PS3, and NOTHING... Don't count on anything before the next generation of consoles re released. These are locked up pretty tight, M$ was a fool to use a Modified PC DVD drive, that was their weakness.
