Got my PAL XBOX 360 Elite Liteon flashed with IXtreme 1.6 - yet some latest backups wont play - it tries to update system, fails, says error reading data clean using soft cloth etc... BUT when i remove the hard drive the games play perfectly - i tried installing the game to my hard drive which was ok so theyre must be errors on the disk - The games dont run from hard drive becasue it still tried to update the stystem from the disk.

Wondering why they will only play with hard drive removed. Is there an update that i can download and burn to dvd to update my system so that the game will play with hard drive connected ?
- Any Thoughts ??...................................

I suggest you clear the HDD cache. It will remove any game updates, however it may also solve your problem.

No - I already tried a reformatted HD also - I have never knowlingly installed any game updates anyway.

Well, this is a new one on me... Never thought the game would play without the HDD in this instance, the HDD should not have anything to do with game launching from DVD.

You really did not have to REFORMAT the drive, but, you already did so...

Have you tried someone else's HDD? Try that, and see what happens. If someone else's HDD is on, and it plays ok, then you probably need a NEW HDD.

No - it was a new systems HDD that i tried - i didnt reformat my HDD - The Problem lies only with disks that require me to update my system, the update doesnt work due error reading disk, so i reboot with hdd removed and then i can play the game...very strange. The game in question is UFC Undisputed 2009 - im wondering is the update something to do with the HDD - So it doesnt try to update when the hard disk is connected ????

then it is a bad burn or corrupt iso nothing more. where did you get the game from was it a direct dump using a kreon drive or did you get it from some other source. Either way try a different source

i had a similar problem with my hdd,
mine needed repair, my warranty for it was out by a month (it's only 3month warranty on accessories- m$) I was so pissed i threw it off the second story of my house.
