Xbox 360 cooling fan

So I'm thinking about getting one of these, which one you guys prefer? I read somewhere that the attach kind can melt to the 360 but they had fixed it, how can I tell the difference between the old one and the new one? I saw some cheap one on Ebay but wouldn't want wanna buy the old version you know.

Thx wink

Re: Xbox 360 cooling fan

I also had an intercooler, and it did NOT melt to the power plug, those were he 1st generation ones, the Nyko cheapies, but the one I had was fine.  I paid somewhere just over 30.00 for the Intercooler, recharger station and two rechargeable batteries.  I used the intercooler up till a few months ago, when I bought an ARCADE edition, it would not plug into the unit, so I sold it with the Premium system I sold....

Re: Xbox 360 cooling fan

I have an Intercooler. 3 fans, plugs into the back on the console. No model number listed on it but one day I smelled burning electrical smell. Pulled it off and the smell is coming from the Intercooler. Don't know if it's one of the fans or something else but... It was a waste of money.

Re: Xbox 360 cooling fan

I had the Intercooler EX and TS. Both of them had 1 fan that started to mess up (it was fixed with oil for a short time).

I didn't have the melting plug issue that most EX users had. The TS is good because it has its own power source (could get annoying to carry around all the time though).

I also noticed that the back of my xbox where the fans go at is a bit damaged.

So overall, the Intercooler could be a good buy...but if your feeling daring, go do the 12v fan mod.

Re: Xbox 360 cooling fan

I had a Nyko, worked fine...

I put one fan on HIGH in one of my three units, works well too.  I only wired the one on the GPU side to full power.
