What exactly does this exploit do? And does the exploit do the same thing as if you were on a updated kernel? Because I had an idea..
What if we just installed linux onto a 360 HDD via a computer, and then just threw the HDD onto the console and then did the exploit? Or is the exploit only possible on the right kernel?

But still don't quite understand. Like how does the exploit do anything to the kernel? I thought no games could interact with the kernel in anyway?

If you have a newer Xbox360, you can't do it anymore, as stated. You need a SPECIFIC Kernel version to do that.
There is a new JTAG Expliot, but if you took the summer update, then you can't do that either.
It does not DO anything to the Kernel itself, READ up on it...
