Keep your firmware up-to-date, there are new features always added to firmware that lets you play newer "backed up" games without any issues.

If I am not online how can I be banned????

If you never ever EVER go online at all then dont worry about. BUT, if you're intending to play these pirated/backed up games while you're offline and then real games online theres still a chance you can get banned. The xbox stores info even if you're not signed in to xbl and sends it to MS whenever you do go online

Not only that, even with SAT internet, you can use live, he just doesn't have the knowledge, tools or hardware for it.

I have Read Read and Read and know of no one who has had an enjoyable experience on xbox live over a satellite connection!
It has nothing to do with tools or hardware its because the sats are 250,000 miles up so unless you move to space! it can't be done way way to much lag

You can play live with a DIAL UP connection, it has been done. Sat is faster, there are things you need to know about routers to get it to work correctly. I know people who use Sat for on-line play. Your upstream is the critical factor in playing on-line... The cheapest SAT provider, Wild Blue has 128kbps, 200Kbps, and 256Kbps upstreams. While 128Kbps is slow, it works if you have NOTHING else on the internet while playing on-line. Their Downstream speeds are 512Kbps, 1Mbps, and 1.5Mbps - Plenty for on-line play...
You can't HOST games, that's for sure, but with the minimum requirement of 64 kbps both upstream and downstream, as a player, you should be able to use it. If you are not using a Headset, and turn off incoming voice, you would be fine. I know you won't be able to TALK or HEAR people, but you can play with even the cheapest Sat provider.
A VOiP phone only needs 30Kbps for low end quality, to 90Kbps for top quality. So, for averages sake, you would need a 94Kbps upstream, STEADY, and 94Kbps downstream for live with voice, as they don't use anything fantastic.

Hi folks, I'm new ![]()
We [this thread] might be assuming that mgdman44012 would at some point go online with his xbox. If you never go online after the mod, how can you get banned?
Even if you were banned, if you don't play online, then so what? You can still play your games offline, right?
Offline
Yes you can still play the games offline even if you're banned

Good, thanks.
Question --- do game DVDs ever include updates to the 360? I could see a game adding updates that it needs to play properly. Those could conceivably include anticircumvention measures...
Offline
Yes.
Xbox 360 only has dashboard updates (the menus you see when you turn it on). You may have heard that there was this big update a while ago called the NXE dashboard update. That NXE update is now on newer game discs so that people who dont have an internet connection can still have their consoles up to date. These games are referred to as "wave 3" games.
People who still have the old dashboard are forced to update or else they cannot play the new games. We've been fine so far though. The devs for ixtreme (custom xbox firmware) have been pretty quick with their releases. Do some research on the site
