Re: 360 E 74

Read the news lately?  E74 has a 3-year warranty now, runs along with the 3-LOD warranty, so just send it back!

It is the video scaler chip, ANA, or HANA for HDMI models.

You have nothing to lose by just sending it back, the worst that can happen is they do not fix it.

You can try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0katvvV3ric

Try someone else's a A/V cable, there could be a short in the current cable, it's worth a shot, and has helped a small percentage...

i seen this video. but my 360's heat sink isn't silver is a copper color. that make a difference ?

yes my 360 has the HDMI.

if i cant fix it. its no loss no big deal. if i could fix it then i'd hack it (like bob's) to play back ups.
then probably trade it off for a ps3.

Images of my Mother board ect...

Re: 360 E 74

Heatsink is a Heatsink, color or material is irrelevant in this instance.

The only change from older ones, to yours, and new; is that extension off the GPU heatsink.  That is an upgrade, and, returned consoles for repair were getting those upgrades as well.  Just a copper arm bolted to the GPU heating, with another heatsink attached?  It is not as effective as one would think, it just helps a small percentage compared to what how effective it NEEDS to be.   All that heat, still passes over the unprotected chips behind it, through the plastic shroud...  I hard wired my GPU fan to HIGH, and added a 1" chipset cooling fan on TOP of the floating heatsink.

You can plainly see the bad design; a nice HUGE and appropriate CPU heatsink.  However, the GPU gets that small flat .5" high thing that wouldn't cool a headache?  THAT is why the GPUs fail.  They had to make it like that for the DVD drive to fit, but they could have done better, I think.  This is probably why the Valhalla design will be the last major change, that being the CPU and GPU on a unified chip at the 45nm process, or at least at 45nm for ONE of the chips.  Thus one good heatsink for the single chip.

Re: 360 E 74

The video you posted if for a GPU 3-LOD issue, you only have 1 light with Error 74.   You do not need to change the heatsink, where are you going to get one?  Just do what the video I posted says...  If it doesn't work, you will not fix it on your own.  It is only a slight chance you will fix it.

Also, DID you try another video cable?

Re: 360 E 74

no i didnt try another cable. i do not have one or can buy at the moment.

i tried what ur video said. and still does the same

shows up on the screen. just fine

My Freind (same one) got another xbox that he's giving me

it to has the single red light.

i told him not to mess with it. but the owners before him already did.

should i try to fix it or should i send it to someone and see if they can fix it?

FIXED !! WOO !

I'm Good big_smile

Crap ! just overheated 1 minute in a song

ok. been tinkering around with the 360.

at times i get it up to the dashboard and shortly after it gives me the 2 red lights (overheating)

possibly better Compound instead of this junk Radio shack Brand. and better screws to hold the heat sink down. the xbox should work again.

i told Bobby (the friend that i got the 360 from) he told me i could get the WATER COOLED Heat sink for it.
lol water cooled

i don't think i wanna throw that kind of money into it. but if i did I'd keep the 360 for my self. (thought about it)
i just might do that.

i got the xbox to do this atleast

5 posts in a row, three yesterday, all within a few hours.  The site rules, like at PS3, you should EDIT your post and add the information dude.   So yeah, you ARE way past that dude...

You don't know the rules?  Hmmm, that's odd, because; before you can get access to the forums, you have to AGREE to the rules that are presented.  IF you did not read them, that is your fault; Just pointing that out.   You can't claim ignorance, because; the rules are presented to every new user.  If you don't read them, that's your fault when you break them, and in turn get it pointed out to you.

Re: 360 E 74

You can always hardware the GPU fan to high, but I read people were banned for that.  Mine, on the $30.00 360 I fixed, I hardwired the GPU fan to full power.  I also added a 1" fan to the GPU heatsink update, the one that floats behind the LED ring.

the 1 1/2" fan i have it tapped into the plug of the stock fan's plug.
yup exactly were i put mine.

now on you tube they say if i put hard drive on. it will do it again. (the 2 LED's) i cannot confirm this since i do not have an HD
i probably could barrow my friends to see.

i would love to make the fan run its MAX all the time. i just don't know how:/

well i hope i can fix the next 360 so i can maybe trade it off for a PS3 or a small HDTV

would be awesome to have both PS3 and 360. the only 2 systems i like.

the Wii is way to childish.

Re: 360 E 74

This one was an EASY fix.  The Spindle motor was bad in thge DVD drive.  SO, I bought the Xbox360, with 20GB HDD, for $30.00.  I bought another Hitachi drive for 29.94 total, and swapped logic boards. I sold the broken one, with new logic board for 15.00 on ebay, so I got half that cost back.  So:

Xbox360 - $30.00
DVD Drive - $30.00
360 Take Apart Tool - $6.00
Sold broken Drive - $-15.00
For a total of $51.00 for a fully working XB360 premium...

that sounds very easy.

i hate to solder. afraid to screw up anything i may have to solider
so a business is something i really don't think is good idea.

Re: 360 E 74

Its a multiple post when you post and then post again before anyody has replied to your original post. This is frowned upon. You can EDIT a post to add or change what you have written. You amended your earlier posts so you know what we mean really. What Mask3d_Ninja was refering to was your three posts in a row. Incidently, your post count doesn't rise when you double (or quintuple in your case earlier) post.
