I like to give it 99% successful rate. Just make sure the games you're backing up doesn't has a lot of scratch on them.

Personally I never had any problem playing backup on my Hitachi or the ones I modded for some friends, but I read a lot of story about how they don't work well with backup, you could try the "rubber band trick" some said it helps.

I use Memorex DL DVD+R  They work.  Make sure you use ImgBurn and change the Book Type to DVD-ROM.  And your CPU has nothing to do with your burner but I'll assume you mean you have a new PC.  Most if not all new PC's have DL DVD Burners.  You can simply look at the front of the drive tray and it'll usually say what kind of drisks it reads and writes.  Try to find the make of your burner so when you're ready to burn games you'll be able to change the book type.  The only drive that reads xbox360 games in windows is the Samsung SC-D162C with a hacked firmware.
