Broken DVD Drive Question

First off I have a good deal of experience with moding and searching Google for info so if you don't want to bother answering please at least give me a name or something that I could research on, now with that out of the way

I know that the noob guide says that you need the key in order to install a different DVD drive to your 360 but I have completely destroyed my DVD drive (I cracked the board by mistake sad).  It was a Lite-on drive and I was not able to dump the key or anything off of it.  Because I don't have that original key is there any way possible to get my 360 back up and able to play games?  I have a feeling that I will defiantly end up needing a mod chip (if I am wrong please correct me) so here are 2 that think have the best chance at working.  The reason is because they claim to bypass the whole key checking process.

The first one is the "NME-360 2.0" http://www.modchipcentral.com/store/XBo … -p-40.html but is says that it will not work with lite-on, now does this mean that it will not work with my 360 because it came with a lite on drive or does it just mean that I can't have a lite on drive installed. being as how I destroyed my old on I was planning on getting a different one I was thinking Samsung because it's the cheapest (I think).

I have also found this one "Globe 360 Version 2" http://www.modchipstore.com/globle-360- … 16339.html this one looks promising because
"The Globe 360 Version 2 mod chip is plug and play, meaning that it does not require extracting the drive-key from the console because the ACTEL CPLD bypasses the Xbox 360 drive-key check, no lousy Firmware Hack Needed! It retains all original firmware and there's no need for any firmware-reading or flashing"
so does this mean that I can put in any 360 DVD drive (keep in mind that I don't have my key) and it will work, with out needing to do anything else as long as I boot up with the chip?

But after reading this http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=672696 I have a feeling that with out that key there is nothing I can do, if anyone else know otherwise please let me know.

Sorry if this post is confusing I kept on updating it every time I found something new during my hours of Google searching. So thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out

Re: Broken DVD Drive Question

If you do not have the KEY, then there is NO WAY to replace the drive YOURSELF, and that's it.

NOTHING will fix it except a return to M$, so do not ask IF IF IF, that's it...

Re: Broken DVD Drive Question

have you herd about Infectus?
http://www.infectus.biz/features.php

They clam that you can change the DVDKEY in the 360 motherboard, i would think that would solve all my problems.

Re: Broken DVD Drive Question

I did not realize for MS to fix a out of warranty Xbox 360 it's only $99 I'm just doing that (you must place order online though).  That includes shipping and you get a 1year warranty back with it.
If anyone else has this problem as of right now there is not way to do this with a Light-on drive if you have anything else you can do it with the Infectus mod chip, regardless if you have the key or not.  You just really need to know what you are doing when it comes to programming.
So this time I learned I'm just going to pay MS and get a connectivity kit.  The "Blaster 360 NE" or CK3 w/ probes look like the ways to go.
