Microsoft has a new (console) ban wave on Xbox LIVE. Right now there is not a lot of details or information, but if you have a modified DVD firmware we suggest you stay off LIVE for now.

READ THIS POST BEFORE POSTING ANYTHING!!! - There will be no excuses accepted for posting information here that is not needed or warranted.

This is probably another preemptive strike before the new dash update.

Possible Culprits:
Call of Duty:World At War rip by Allstars; not stealthed properly. Download the patch to fix (umm, that's a lttle too late if you were already banned, huh?). You should always check to be sure they are PROPER ISOs before burning them to play.

Any other game not properly stealthed, and you burned without checking with the right program to be SURE it is stealthed properly.

Leaked games played before release dates, and leaked content that was run/installed before release dates.

Bad Security sectors.

BANS: Even if you play the offending titles or use hacked firmwares off-line, any anomalies are stored and transmitted WHEN you connect, there is no time limit. You should NEVER play titles before their release dates, and especially never attempt on-line play with them.

I would also be concerned about the new Dash update coming. It uses 128Mb of space on the HDD or memory card. Why is this strange? Till now, all dashboard updates were done without any external memory requirements. The on-board flash contains the root-dash and O/S, so, the need for another 128Mb is a lot of space considering. I believe the dash is optional, and they should not make it mandatory. If they DO, then something is up.

11/11/08 BANS, Status Codes and drive/firmware info if known & other info if known. Each separated item listed below is a different person reporting their ban.

i am banned as well as a few friends all at 1.4 ixtreme - W:0000- 000B X: 0000- F001 Y: 00A8- 6820 Z: 8015- 190D Samsung MS25 iExtreme v1.4. My friends with Benq havent been banned yet.

This account has been banned for violation of the terms of use . To protect the Xbox LIVE service and its members, Microsoft does not provide details about account bans . There is no recourse for Terms of Use violations. Did not report firmware or drive.

Samsung MS28 Ixtreme 1.4 - Playing Halo III - banned - I was banned not one new game (COD5, GOW2). Last game played on my 360 was Halo 3.

Just plugged my Ethernet cable back in to see if I was banned and I wasn't. Only signed in for no more than 2 minutes. Unplugged my cable again just in case to see what is the exact cause.

Benq drive with iExtreme 1.41 firmware.

I have played Gears of War 2 early, Fable 2 early, Fallout 3 early, and copies of Saints Row 2 and Fracture that wouldn't connect to live to begin with but would boot. I have a Ben-Q with Ixtreme 1.4 that is only like 2 months old.

Hi people. I was banned yesterday, i was using firmware Iextreme 1.4 its weird because i played fifa 09 at around 16:30 and then had to go see my girlfriend then i was at home at about 11:00-11:30 and tried to play again on the same game and was banned! i'm gutted! but also i was a bit foolish and downloaded that pesky shitty CoD:WAW from allstars!! "Why i oughtta!!" everything else i have ever owned (downloaded) hasn't had any probs so i am blaming that!

Has there been any news on new firmware is it to early? I JUST WANNA PLAY ONLINE!!!!!

About the new firmware... No. If there was, it would be plastered all over news sites.

The ban wave, generally, seems to be over. This does not not mean you can't get banned for playing a non stealthed, or improperly stealthed backups on older firmware (Pre iX1.4). They can either ban you now, or next year whem they run their batch baning program. Just remember NEXT YEAR, same ban time, same ban channel.

There has been nothing from the developers of iX1.4 on the latest ban wave. Still, lets see what happens after the NXE has been installed everywhere.

This is interesting:
I was banned around November 16, 2008; possibly because of playing GoW2 SINGLEPLAYER while signed into XBL before offical release. - I have a Hitachi 78FK with ixtreme 1.4

Today, however, when i turned on my xbox 360, the dashboard asked me to update. So i was like okay...? I choose yes, and it automatically installed NXE on my xbox. I can sign in again, and checked XBL Network test. I was able to connect to XBL again. I thought Microsoft NEVER unbans tampered consoles...but why...

i have benq flashed with iprep wtih iexteme 1.4.1 and made a dead space backup that was all stealthed but the burner didnt finalize and the backup stopped working a little into the game i then played original copy of left4dead and have yet to be banned
