Hi,
Basically my console got the 3 Red Lights of Death.
So I spent 2 days running around buying all the things I need to fix 3RL myself and after hours of tampering etc and problems one after another I finally got my Xbox to work.... but it only worked for 1 day then it went back to 3RL, and now its just always giving me 2 red lights.
The console sounds liek a rocket is about to take off then it hits 3RL.
Now ive got the UPS code to send to MS for getting it all fixed (hopefully) but im trying to restore my flashed drive before I send it but the console will not recognise in DOS because of the 2RL.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?
The console is completely screwed now, 3RL, 2RL, DVD Drive doesnt read games, the screws inside are half chewed etc etc etc...
So to some up basically:
How can I get my Xbox drive restored since 2RL is preventing it from reading in DOS?
Also, is there a good chance that MS will not notice the chewed screws etc and fix the Xbox and the DVD Drive too?

You want to put the DVD back to OEM? It doesn't matter, they won't look at your unit until it is too late. It takes up to 14 days for a return. You won't even get your unit back, so why bother?
You have a 50/50 chance they will send yours back with NOTICEABLE tampering. With the 3-LOD warranty in effect, you just send it back, there is no need to take it apart and TRY and fix it yourself, that's the problem. FLASHING has nothing to do with the 3-LOD, so that's not a valid argument either.
The worst that will happen is that they will open it up, power it up and TEST it. If they only get 2-lights, they won't repair it, because YOU SAID 3-LOD, not 2... So, just send it back, and just WAIT. You can't use it anyway, so you can wait 14 days. IF you get your unit back unprepared, then you ARE screwed.

Ok
I got my Xbox back today and they have given me a whole new unit, it has the new heatsink in it, but doubtful that it has the new chip since they never gave me a 175w psu with it, and also a nice new BENQ drive in it.
So I guess I either got lucky, or the most idiotic technician ever... (or generous)

Doesn't matter, if you have a higher watt PSU, it will still work with the lower watt consoles. Anyhow, the sticker on the Xbox case will tell you anyway. Since you send your console back ONLY, they would not give you a new PSU anyway.
