Playstation isn't even in the radar

As bad as the PS3 selling right now, I can't help but getting drawn in by the name "Playstation"...

Maybe so, but I still kinda want one..

remember how the ps2 also had a bad start ? it's the brand people, the brand! sony will eventually win. it's... fate. they turned gaming popular, most of the people who don't know jack will buy a ps3 as soon as it goes lower than 500€/$. meanwhile we, the nerdy kind, will be getting our gaming's worth on the 360 [or whatever would be available for hardcore gamers at the time].

most of the people on this forum will, eventually, get a PS3. gaming will be where sony's at. right now, it's nowhere. in two years time, PS3.
those two years will be the x360 finest.

all i have to say is: remember the Dreamcast. without marketing you have nothing.

50% wasn't enough beaker. and also remember that the PS1 was born from a inneffectual business plan between sony and nintendo. and what i mean by popular is "it's not a kids thing anymore". it was OK, socially, to play videogames. i know i had a hard time finding buddies who had gameconsoles and devoted, at least, half the time i did to gaming.

let's be honest, 80% to 90% of the great 90's titles are on the PS1. Sure you can say always say 'what about mario64 and ocarina of time?' but those are only two which can be easily shadowed, makert wise, by MGS, GT, Resident Evil, any Final Fantasy...

with the playstation 2 sony proved it was really a Business company, capital B. Marketing, people. that's where it's at. to make it even more intriguing they hired David Lynch as the director for the first tv ads.

they are, simply put, marketing geniuses. the hardware is just competent.
the xbox360 is just lasting more than the dreamcast due to the never ending funds of M$.

and please note, i'm not a sony fan. i just like to play videogames, ever since the NES time. but face it, it's been history. SNES was the more powerful console and had the best games but in a minor quantity. MegaDrive/Genesis had a lot more titles. the Saturn/PSone debate can't be includade, the ps1 stormed the market. n64 was in a world of it's own, being cartridge at that time. same goes for the gamecube, with it's miniDVD thing [someday, nintend will issue an apology on that, i'm sure! x_x]

and dreamcast and ps2... as i recall, the Dreamcast was the first 3d gaming console that, at launch, was more powerful than any PC you could build. remember how Soul Calibur and RE:Code Veronica were impressive ? it's not the machine anymore. it's how well you can sell. and sony will sell their ps3 enough. as matter of fact, i believe it's already sold, in people's mind. not a single one of you, here in the forum has said "i'll never buy a ps3". you know, deep down, that it will be a killer machine with killer apps.

it's just a matter of time.

Yea same here Midian, I only getting it because of Tekken series.

I coulda get it within a month also, but that would be like no spending money at all... but I gotta have my motivation... haha beside Tekken ain't coming out anytime soon anyway...
