The PS3 games are all supposed to only be released on BR-D, in fact, for the new region coding for BR-D games, being REGION FREE, they have to be. If they were put on a DVD9, if a game fit, then the region would not be the same, so they almost HAVE to place the games for PS3 on BR-D, else the game would be region locked to the same schedule as PS2 games.
Also, moved this topic where it belongs...
Yes they are and again depending on the size you get different sizes eg
Single layer Blu-ray = 25GB
Dual layer Blu -ray = 50GB

I do not think the PS3 is a Dual Layer reader anyway... They're already on the four and six layer process....
I dident mean it like a dual layer i just ment like a double layer

Well, dual layer and double Layer is actually the same thing... When you see "DL+R" people say double layer, or dual layer disc, and not the FLIP over and write, which is known as "double sided" disc. Dual and Double layer mean the same thing.
fine then whatever it is called basicly the games and movies come on 25GB and 50GB discs

Yeah, I been reading, and maybe the PS3 does support dual layer BR-D, but that's 9 hours of HD video. Right now, no movie is that long, and no game is that big, so there is no need for DL yet.
There are no games, or movies as of now, on Dual Layer BR-discs. However, If PS3 games are on dual layer? Then they are using the 2nd layer (like XB360 does with DVD) to store the TOC, so that copying it between two PC BR-D drives is out of the question. It makes the disc unrecognizable by conventional BR-D drives when they do that. Once someone gets a PC BR-D and can use a program to read the physical format information of a PS3 game disc, then we'll know if they are dual layer or not, and then know why.
well there is a blu-ray movie out there that uses the 50GB's and that is casino royale, i know this cause i own it and i dumped it myself and found that it is 45GB in size ![]()
