anyone experimented with their old games?
i have found that some games dont run that great
NHL 2004 for instance. the crowd flashes, the commentary blips and repeats itself and there is a huge lag in play that gives for a poor overall experience. any other games like this or is it just me?
Offline
well the 360 really isent playing the game...it is emulating it...so with any emulation there is expected to be lag and other faults...
i am keeping my old xbox so that i can play my xbox games on it....not on my 360...
Offline
well games like halo i hear don't have any problems (mainly because so many people play it, and they wanted to make sure it works), but others don't quite play as good as the original

Offline
Halo 2 is brilliant. There is hardly any difference to the original. as i didnt have live previously to the 360, I been getting some live time on it and quite frankly, the worst thing is all of the sad people who scream down the headset at you 'DIE MUTHA fracker!'

Me also . The core was a better bang for buck.(hence I have III) ![]()
Ive heard this is external, but is it really that big?
Offline
the only thing i'm worried about is lag online as far as halo goes, but then again, the players connection has a huge affect

Offline
lag is non existant online with halo 2. the only game i have experienced lag in was PGR3.
Halo 2 works as normal end of

What with the concerns of people with compatability issues, I'm going to start posting how well games have been converted in this thread. I'll start off by doing a few and it would be good if you can post how other games work in this thread as well. Also, lets just keep it to this thread
Baldur's Gate: Dark Aliiance 2
Works perfectly
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds
Works perfectly
Crimson Skies
Works perfectly
Dead Or Alive 3
Runs in 16:9 but freezes
Forza Motorsport
Works fine but the intro movie stutters a bit. Ingame there are some framerate issues
Halo
Works perfectly
Halo 2
Works perfectly
SSX 3
The game itself works perfectly. Strange "Hard Drive is unusable" error message when I save the game even though the save game is there on the HDD and it doesn't corrupt it!!!
Brute Force
Works perfectly- graphics look better
Half-Life 2
Works fine, has some framerate issues, more so than on the Xbox unfortunately.
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe
Works perfectly. The game plays better than on the Xbox thanks to the 360 controller's improved analogue sticks.
Sonic Heroes
Works perfectly
Fable (Original)
Runs perfectly
GTA: San Andreas
Loads faster than before but thats all I can tell ya at the moment, Graphics seem to look the same.
Batman Begins
Works perfectly (look very nice too)
Ninja Gaiden
Works almost perfectly. There's a small barely-noticeable stutter when enemies appear on the screen but otherwise it plays exactly the same as it did on the Xbox
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Works perfectly. Benefits from some slightly faster loading times
Ghost Recon 2***
Works perfectly
Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike ***
Works perfecty
Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow ***
Works perfectly
Splinter Cell ***
Works perfectly
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow ***
Works perfectly
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory ***
Works perfectly
GTA III
Works perfectly, looks squashed onto screen
GTA: Vice City
Works perfectly
XIII
The actual game works perfectly, only but the cutscenes judder, jerk and stutter like mad for some reason.
Fuzion Frenzy
Works fine- although not as fast paced as i remeber it but it was only single player
FIFA 2004
Small lag, jittery comentary at times
NHL 2004
Huge Lag- so much so it has second pauses, Jittery comentary and Crowd flashes in and out. almost unplayable
NHL Hitz 2003
Perfect
Shadow The Hedgehog
Perfect
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Perfect
Tony Hawks 4
Perfect- Even looks better on a normal TV and feels like it loads quicker
WWE RAW2: Ruthless Aggression
Perfect in game, Laggy on Menus
* I'll stop there as i got carried away and i got some feedback from another forum from people in my friendslist
*** Tom Clancy Games prompt for a live update whick takes you back to the original dashboard if you try to login to Live. when the update is done, the 360 crashes. No sideeffects have been had from this. Be Warned though- It will probably crash
Offline
no, no, don't stop. the more the marrier! you know, just to avoid extra questions later;)

I've Just started the ball rolling, its up to the rest of you guys to come here and post your findings...
although i will make more posts as i get more games and more games work.
I need stubbs the zombie really badly...
Offline
For me Half-Life 2 on the 360 is an unplayable mess. There's a major problem with clipping and collision. I go right through walls and water into infinity. There's a few posts on the xbox website about this.
Offline
there are some concerns with it, and funnily enough i was playing it today and found it was difficult to pick up and move items- it was really glitchy but i turned it off (the 360) and went back to it and there was no lag.
Also, the same happened in Halo today, I had been playing it 40 mins or so and the framerate just dropped. warthogs were literally undrivable
. i turned it off and back on again and it was fine.
Microsoft are working at these problems, or so i understand ![]()
Offline
i've had no problems with halo, although, i did have a problem with the update disk for halo 2. i did the hal2 update (the one that's required for the maps), then finished all the rest of them, then accidently hit the update again, and it got all screwy and glitchy (but it's because it's for the xbox, not the 360, so it's not because of the upgrade itself)

i was thinking about getting it as well, in the hope it was being made B/C.
I have also heard they are releasing a trilogy and as i own none of the games and would like Pop:WW, I may as well hold out 'til then when (hopefully) there is an update.
I also want the xbox version of Kong. There is absolutely no difference apart from graphics and I hear you all say that it isnt compatible, well, if it doesnt become compatible there is something very wrong with M$ as the OXM demo i had for Xbox works perfect on my 360 with v1.2 of the emulator ![]()
Offline
ninja gaiden black slows down for me horribly when fighting a boss battle... sonic heroes is not in wide screen cus i run 52 inch plasma hdtv. but halo works perfect
Offline
heard the new prince of persia game doesnt work on the 360 so i got it for the ps2
the only prince of persia game that worka on the 360 is the Sand of Time. And they have not made The Two Thrones for it (which i beleive is a stupid move)

Offline
you would think so, wouldn't you? guess microsoft is either lazy, or dumb

Offline
which is wierd cause wasnt it ALL new games were suspossed to work
Yeh they said that. at the time though, what did you know was coming out?
I saw Half Life 2 and Stubbs the Zombie would make it and took it for granted that every other new game would as well. Heres what M$ have to say about the Issue:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwar … ityfaq.htm
They also say you can mail them and they read EVERY (sorry for caps) email sent to them and take them into account. ![]()
Offline
well i just hope that they find a much better way to play old games...
