first off, all the other mods and admin, i hope u dnt mind me putting this on the site, we have a lot of members and so by passing the word we can help bring this/these bastards to justice.
I'm sure that UK members and Portuguese members of this forum are aware of this tragic story, but I would like to share it with others.
The idea is to make people aware and hopefully this will prompt someone in coming forward with any information leading to this girl's return to her family. This might not be as a direct result of this post, but at least it spreads the message out to others.
This has had media coverage in the UK, Ireland and Portugal but little coverage elsewhere and at this time it's important as they believe their daughter to have been taken out of Portugal and into Europe.

The family of missing Madeleine McCann have urged the public to join their poster and chain e-mail campaign.
Madeleine, of Rothley, Leicestershire, disappeared from an apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal six days ago. She turned four on Saturday.
Her aunt, Philomena McCann, told the BBC how members of the public could help the family.
"They can join my e-mail campaign sending my poster to everyone that they know," she said.
'Real difference'
The chain e-mail was sent by Ms McCann and also contains a poster which can be printed out. People are urged to send the message on to their friends and contacts throughout Europe.
The text of the e-mail reads: "As you are aware my niece is still missing and I am asking everyone I know to send this as a chain letter ie you send it to everyone you know and ask them to do the same, as the story is only being covered in Britain, Eire and Portugal.
"We don't believe that she is in Portugal anymore and need to get her picture and the story across Europe as quickly as possible. Suggestions are welcome."
An official website "Bring Madeleine Home" has been set up by family friends.
"They can just phone their MPs and ask for support, they can pray for us - it's a great sustenance to us all," said Ms McCann.

"They can do lots of things - just letting people, if they're going on holiday, take a poster of Madeleine with them. There are so many little things that people can do that make a real difference to us," she said.
She said more than 40,000 copies of the poster had been downloaded from one site.
"We've had lots of feedback from people in Lisbon and in Spain.
"I was put in touch with [SNP leader] Alex Salmond, and he told me he had seen the poster and heard about it. He said he's going to help."
She said the aim of the campaign was to raise awareness of Madeleine's plight across Europe, in countries where her disappearance has not been covered by local media.
"This is a big story in Britain because her family are a combination of Irish, Scottish and English. But outside of here and Portugal this is a lame duck. It's just not out there at all.
"The target is to get Madeleine's face seen and, if she's recognised, there's a Crimestoppers number they can ring."
Ms McCann said The Sun newspaper had provided 15,000 copies of a poster showing Madeleine which were handed out at the Celtic versus Aberdeen football match on Saturday.
"Fifteen thousand copies - it was magnificent. and they put Madeleine's image on the big screen several times. Celtic are known as the Lisbon Lions - the links with Portugal are not tenuous.
"We have had such fantastic support from the world of football, business and the general population have been stupendous.
"I've never been cuddled so much in my life as I was today."
Ms McCann said she would attend a woman's 10km run in Glasgow on Sunday, and would help hand out 200 t-shirts to runners.

That is so bad that this has not been said in the states

the only issue i have with this is that thousand of children get taken all the time, and nothing is made out of that, whilst all these resources are thrown at one little girl. i'm not saying she isn't important, but surely the time and money spent on this would be better spread around to all young victims and not just a select few

who cares if some one took a little girl unless theres a reward or somethin gthe parents should be more careful....

The stupid thing is, when they were searching, they had on the news "Police are now searching Malta" etc... the kidnapper could easily find out where they are looking and move on...
but ya.

Midian no need to bring back an old topic with something that has already been said, much less with judgment of a country, yet again. As for you thomas310, clearly you're just trying to get attention, so you're not worth the time.
Back on topic, as sad as it is, the girl may never be found, nor will he/she/those that took her. Hopefully that's not the case though, but quite well a possibility.

i hope they do find her alive, but damn i'm portuguese and people are sick of the subject. even a british journalist said that if a portuguese little girl got abducted in britain they wouldn't make such a fuss.
hope they do find her.

i have to agree with u dude, im a bit confused as to why such a major fuss was made over this, i mean dnt get me wrong this is very serious and a great tradgidy for the parents, but this happens all over the world all the time and yet this particualr time it grabs the media attention and didnt give up
I feel sorry for her parents i really do but why the fuss over this one girl, in my country ( South Africa ) a woman or child is raped every 5 min....
a person is murdered every 20 min
a person goes missing every 30 min....often never to be seen again
and im not even joking... so why is there no fuss for us???

Maddie's mother to be declared suspect
The mother of missing British four-year-old Madeleine McCann will be formally declared a suspect on Friday, a spokeswoman for the family said.
The sudden shift in the investigation came after authorities received forensic evidence recovered from the holiday apartment in the Algarve where Madeleine vanished on May 3.
"She will be formally declared a suspect," said Justine McGuinness, a spokeswoman for the McCanns.
On Thursday, Kate McCann was questioned by police for about 11 hours at a police station in the Algarve. Kate's husband Gerry is expected to be questioned by police on Friday.

A Briton living in Praia da Luz had until now been identified by police as the only suspect in the investigation and his house has been searched twice.
Madeleine's parents have campaigned relentlessly to draw attention to the case. Their efforts led to a meeting with Pope Benedict in Rome who blessed a picture of Madeleine a few weeks after the disappearance.
British business tycoons and celebrities ranging from Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling to soccer stars have contributed to a reward for her return.
