Since I am trying to get this to work, I decided to post my progress here, to serve as a reference for people looking to try it, and so I remember how to do it . It will be updated regularly, and I will try to be as clear as possible in the logs.

11:20am:

Installed Qemu base system by typing "apt-get install qemu" into terminal under root. Program installed without any issues. Ran Add/Remove utility from start menu and searched for "Qemu Launcher". Downloaded and installed without any problems.
Opened "Qemu Launcher" and configured settings as seen below: (Only tabs "Disks And Memory" and "Hardware" were changed.)

And Then "Hardware":

Inserted Windows XP OEM CD - Difficulty Level 9: 360 drive did not want to co-operate . Drive would close too soon to get disk in. Resolved by ejecting from Linux by right-clicking icon and pressing physical button at same time.

Found a way to get sound support in XP. As long as Qemu has USB support, I should be able to simply attach a USB Speaker, they have built-in sound cards, so windows will have a driver ready and waiting for it.
Made a few changes to Qemu settings. Will post later. Creating an ISO of my Windows XP CD to speed up installation. Plus the fact that Qemu will not boot from the physical drive. Added some pre-launch parameters to Qemu Launcher, which fixed problem where the command line application would not open when you click launch. Parameters are "qemu -boot d winxp". "winxp" is my HDD image and can be modified to fit your needs. ISO creation is now complete. Setting path to it in Qemu Launcher. Path is "Root/YOUR-ISO-NAME.iso".

UPDATE:

If you would prefer to continue without the GUI, there is a very simple command which will begin the installation instantly, even with a physical CD. Simply type "qemu -boot d -cdrom /dev/cdrom -hda winxp.img" into a terminal. Install Windows XP as you usually would.

Right now, I am installing XP to the HDD image, but it should run without any issues when it is finished. I believe there is a VM-Ware for Linux, but it's not designed for a PPC core. I could be wrong though...

K, thanks . Although I would expect VM-Ware to be more memory-heavy than Qemu.

im not having much luck tbh, but it is probably because it is a crazy situation, think about it

a ppc core running windows INSIDE linux without using a mac os at all lol

its one of those things u would think u wouldnt hear of lol

i have come to the conclusion that there isnt a ppc linux vmware available lol and tbh im not suprised

This is really giving me a headache now. The installation has still not completed, and I don't have the time to wait for it to finish. I'm going to forget this insane method and simply install windows to the HDD image on a PC. Hopefully it will go a lot faster. If I don't post again by 1500 hours tomorrow, you can assume I have given up .

Things are beginning to look much better now. My new method has completed stage 1 of installation, and is rapidly going through stage 2. My only concern is that it might have problems when detecting hardware.

Installation is almost complete now. I have tested a ReactOS image on the 360 to see how usable it is. It boots faster than on a normal PC, but the OS is not running at a very high speed. I expect this issue to be resolved, once I have installed kqemu. Here is a screenshot of ReactOS running inside 360 linux:

Mission Accomplished! Windows XP Home Edition is now successfully running on my Xbox 360 through Linux (although slowly)!! . Its not very fast, but runs at a usable speed. I'll post a screenshot in about an hour. I have some other ideas on how to improve things. Including using TinyXP. Once I have all the optimisations complete and I'm happy with the speed, I'll write a full in-depth tutorial on it and post it to 360updates .

EDIT:

The current effective processing speed is 33MHz. This is without any optimizations.

I have given TinyXP a try, and found that it is about 10x as fast as Home Edition when run in Qemu. Although I can't provide a direct link to this OS due to forum rules, I can say that you will find it in the usual places (Google is always very helpful ). Sound is now working from TinyXP, but not in Linux, since it does not support USB speakers. Here's a screen froom the installation of TinyXP:

It takes approximately 5 minutes to boot completely, which is really quite fast when you consider the CPU speed it has to deal with . I'm expecting TinyXP to boot very quickly (30 secs or less) since it installed in under 10 mins .

troy2000, would you like me to help with the boot time. i can shorten it from 5 minutes to about 3. after all, i did it for the x86 project that im working on over at psp-hacks.com (making the x86 emulator better) windows 95 would boot in 5-6 minutes now i got it to boot in 3! including the mouse support. anyway, if you want me to, i can help with that. pm me

I've completed a few optimizations, and Windows XP Pro is becoming extremely fast and usable. Boot time is now 4min 7secs. Slowly getting there...

Wow extremely nice work there, dont know how the hell how to set it all up, but you need the king kong unpatched DVD right? and a exploited version...

Windows XP runs for PS3, but is VERY SLOW. It will be slower for XB360 when complete. You need a linux made for the PPC, but not sure of YDL or Fedora core 6 runs on Xbox's PPC CPU like it does for PS3.

On 360, linux actually seems to run faster than PS3. I'm not exactly sure why, but when I open apps or folders, they don't take ages to load like on PS3...
