I feel like such a total noob! I mean I am (kinda) tech savvy...built/troubleshoot pc a lot...hack ps2/Dreamcast/others system before....I seem to have trouble following this tutorial....
I mean, I can't even get the bootable USB created (I know what it is). I am pulling my hairs out atm. After reading through the six page of comments here, I finally realize that it's probably because this tutorial is OUTDATED. I mean Xtreme52 isn't there anymore and iXtreme 1.0 is also not there anymore. I downloaded Xtreme53.rar and iXtreme_v1.4_All Version.rar.
While making the bootable usb drive, I keep getting "Import Fail" when trying to open the firmware. I think someone should update the tutorial to reflect the newer firmware (or maybe I'm just cuckoo in the head)
A couple of questions though.
Is this tutorial meant for ME to put in Xtreme first, then iXtreme or whichever one I choose?
Is this tutorial all there is too it or am I required to prepare some other steps ahead of time? (orig.bin/extract key/etc)
I felt like a big part of the tutorial is missing (or I am missing something)...I mean this tutorial seems easy while I was skimming through...but once I got the Via sata chip in my pc AND working...I just could not get pass the bootable usb part...
Please help this new Xbox360 convert....I know I am making this harder than it is....
Update:
So I went back to the first page and notice on step 2 "Make Extreme dc-r". What is this about? I skipped this part. Please help....Am I following the wrong tutorial? I did skim through the "Complete info for Newbie" and I assume this one was the right tutorial....

I guess everyone is too busy somewhere to notice my CRY for help here. Anyway...I got mine to work...I took another route. I use JungleFlasher....I did make some changes to it first. I found out the VIA card I bought did not work correctly for somewhere (on my part, I'm sure). The card was working correctly and CAN detect my drive but it seems to not want to work with my drive. I end up using my computer's sata drive (should've tried it first before I purchase the VIA card) and it did the trick.
JungleFlasher (NO DOS/ all GUI) was able to detect my drive and READ the FW out. I then spoof my ID to the iXtreme FW and Write it back to my drive. Reading was simple but Writing was another story. It keep freezing at bank 1 or 2...It seem to be random....I tried it like 5 times and all freeze at different time...I thought my drive was dead....I just keep "Device ID" until it show my drive info....I turn off my pc and remove pc dvd drive, usb flash drive (XBM) and it flash through the first time....
Now...time to try a back up on it....wish me luck....

wowiee this is by farr, the best tut i've stumbled upon yet tbh!
just one problem i'm having!
i've done everything in the first step which you said and i have a Toshiba Samsung DVD-ROM Drive, the model is TS-H943.
Also i have a VIA VT6421 RAID Controller and a VIA VT8237A RAID Controller apparentlyy ;/
everything is fine and i have the firmware on my santek 4gb USB stick and i've enabled the USB Drive to load up in the drive priorities.
So when i finaly let the USB load up into dos... NOTHING HAPPENS! :'(!
all i see is the flashing underscore appear once, then carries on flashing forever just underneath where it was before.
the xbox 360 is on and whirring away like none other but nothing seems to happen ;/
i have every piece of hardware you described in the tut.
am i doing something wrong?
