Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

I only have one dvd drive connected to my tower and disconnected my hdd and it still hangs. I'm thinking that I already bricked my 360 drive. The only thing that i can get right is it still shows up everytime I enter XREAD.

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

try this

from klush
I am assuming this if for a fresh Flash.

It should like he's not giving it enough time between power cycles, could try 30 seconds.

If it is updating a previous firmware he should try inserting the Enable800 DVD. (Enable800 should be burnt to a DualLayer DVD for maximum compatability)

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

I'm flashing this 360 for the first time. I will try 30 seconds see if it works. As for the dvd drive of the 360, it suddenly won't eject. I have no idea what is causing this. I also noticed that everytime i turn the 360 on the middle light just flashes with or without the drive.

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

I can't test for sure because I can't open the tray manually or in the dashboard and when I try to plug the 360's sata cable it just gives me an "E 65" error and the red light for the 4th player flashes. I've almost given up on this one.

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

if you mean the av cables then yes. the red light only happens when i plug the 360's sata cable back in the drive. i have another question, how do i know if the drive is still good? is there a program to check it? can you tell me how do that please. i'll try to use a different method and see if it works.

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

Hi all,
Ive just followed this tutorial and im having the same problem. I also have a samsung ms28 and im getting a E65 error. Ive followed all the steps and it looks like a bad flash, however i cannot recover my original firmware. It has created an orig.bin file on the root of the usb flash drive, but just will not recover. Any help would be greatly recieved.

It has created an orig.bin file on the root of the usb flash drive ???

it should not do this it should put it in a subfolder in the backup folder that is on the usb

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

Hi there!I got some probs with flashing my xbox360 it is the ms25 samsungdrive.
When i use extremebootmaker i get this error:` Index and length must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name:length"

So after a view tries i manually hex editted the key from my original fm to the new 5.2 fw.
Made a bootfloppy in windows and added mtkflash +new firmware.
At first he didn`t flash anything it just hangs, then after a few tries he flashed the360 BUT it didnt work anymore i get an error 66.
So i tried to reflash it.But my computer won`t flash it anymore:( when i use mtkflash i get this error: Port:9f0 master/slaveb0 status=00 should be 70, and sometimes: status=51 should be 70.
It hangs i can press escape and try again but it just won`t work anymore.
Pls guys help me out!Im really frustrated.

Im using a gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 motherboard, with the nforce 3 chipset.

I've sent you a pm m8

just use this tut but when you get to custom controller untick the box

as you do not need custom mtkflash

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

can anyone help please? I got my sata card today (the via vt6421a one) so I presuming you stick it into a vacant pci slot start the pc load drivers all done?? Anyway i made a boot disk though i had to use floppy as my "new" motherboard does not seem to support usb booting?! (edit:) so i solved my problem of it hanging in DOS. i had to turn off the onboard uncompatible sata slots though now i have a different problem... when i run xread with the 360 on
I get this
A:\>xread
directory already exists
directory already exists
mtkflash by jseph lin.mtx 1998 ver 1.83c
Please wait...
No drive detected
1file(s) copied

Then it says in red
ERROR:BACKUPS\1234567\12345 orig.bin does not exist!

Runtime error at 0000:107A.
A:\>

Any help would be much appreciated!! ...one other thing the 360 drive is still fine i tryed it back in the console with an original game and no problems.

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

EDIT: UPDATE:

Just wanna thank tpepsiman again for this tut and his help by far the easiest tut I could find for flashing a samsung! As I've finally got it all working!!!!!
A few things that I encountered on my MS25
Had to switch off onboard uncompatible SATA in bios
Had to remove all drives even removed soundcard
Had to try different sockets on the sata card and also move the actual card to a different PCI slot
One thing I noticed in removing all drives was that during the flashing process both reading and writing I had to execute more than once to actually get it to aknowledge that the 360 drive was there!!?
Another thing also with the other drives removed it flashed the only thing that was left, so I didnt even have to select a drive!!!
I only had to just type xread in command prompt watch the percentage go up til it stops and prompts to switch off the pc and xbox, then turned pc on and then the xbox and typed xflash let it flash the drive then switched PC off then xbox! worked a treat!

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

I tried about everything now and I am really stuck.

Used an Intel 875 PBZ, (tried a 965 and a 825 too). All with the same results. Did exactly as described above.
But when I try to use xread and select either xtream master or slave (doesnt matter) it just hangs.

When I press ESC I get either a 00 should be 70 or (when I dont turn off the drive before selcting it in xread) a 51 should be 70.

When I use an unmodified mtkflash the drive isnt detected at all. (Although according to the list of compatible boards it should work without patching - ICH5 or ICH7 boards)

Have a Samsung ms28 drive. And right now I really dont know what else I could try...

Re: Easy Samsung Guide For MS25 & MS28 Drives

Hi all.

I had almost the same problem as Sentinel, with a MS28 drive yesterday, but I managed to flash it when I disconected all other devices (IDE/SATA) of the motherboard and then plugged the xbox dvd drive on the first SATA port.

It didn't make much sense to me as sata doesn't use the MASTER/SLAVE configuration, but as soon as I did it, the dump and the flashing went fine.

Did you tried connecting it to the first avaiable SATA port on your mobo?
