“As you may have read online, we’ve been actively banning consoles from Xbox LIVE that have been modified to play pirated games. Our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community remains a top priority. All consumers should know that piracy is illegal, and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs, violates the Xbox LIVE terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox LIVE. The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them. This would also be a good time to remind you that the warranty on an Xbox 360 console is not transferrable and if you purchase a used console that has been previously banned, you will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE.”
This was November 4th, and some reports have already come in from console owners.
hahaha only banning modified consoles yea right i know plenty of ppl that have been banned for unmodified xbox 360 and buying their games…and M$ wont fix it cause it was their mistake

Does anyone know how MS is figuring out which consoles are modded?
me and my mate has been banned mate got banned before me so they proberly checked his freinds list. all i can think it is. when we first played some games early and they can proberly see the date so no more early play lucky for me i have another flashed console.

It’s 50/50 right now. Only half the people I know with modded consoles have been banned. The other half are fine. Definitely think it’s related to Forza 3 and MW2.
i didn’t play either of those games, didn’t play anything early, didn’t play and wave 4 games and still got banned
since Forza 3 is already out it is probably concentrated more with MW2…
but getting banned can b as easy as not running a game threw abgx and not having proper stealth files also
I have 2 xbox’s and was texting this theory both , one i play at night and the other during the day, was playing cod mwf 2 with 1 and cod on the other one. Only one of my systems was band , i think its because of play newly released games… cuz i’m still playin the other one fine, so make sure you do stealth checks people
Got banned probably Nov.4th. Havent played MW2, only recently released game I played was Dragon Age but didn’t go online with it, I only ever played a good copy of Borderlands onling for like 2 hours a week after release date.
I got banned last night and it made my xbox360 can’t install the game to HDD also can’t play the installed game from HDD. But I still can play the game on disc and can usually save or load the gamedata. Is there any way to fix this problem. I really worries about this. Please advice.

I got banned 2 days ago, I was using fw 1.51 on benq drive. Ive never played a game without a succesfully stealthing it.
Im also the only one out of my friends thats got banned.
Microsoft has no way of checking your actual FW version. It may have something to do with the Challenge Response Checks CRC. Modded Xbox 360′s respond faster than normal on these CRC checks and that is how Microsoft knows. Also newer games probably are using wave 3 and wave 4. Well don’t worry hackers always find a work around until next year a new item to hack.
Yes, hackers can keep trying & making workarounds, and you can keep buying more and more consoles, and MS gets more cash, everyone wins.

And all the games i’ve played have been verified at abgx360..

Yup I’m part of the club…didn’t play any games early…though I did have my XBox set to download games until it has completed when I download items…I have been off the box for 2 days and when I turned it on it was immediate…every game I’ve ever had was verified on abgx360 I never wanted to risk it hehe…Ive played Forza 3 after it came out without installing the 2nd disc for 1 race 2 achievements…though I also had L4D gamesave still on my harddrive I forgot to delete…I have MW2 but haven’t made the copy yet…I cant be mad but man why couldnt it have happened on Monday hehehe…thank God for eBay and WalMart

I have a question, someone told me they got banned and never went on xbox live.. is that even possible?
What would happen if you reflashed your benq drive back to original firmware would you still get detected???
Yep, it’s the console ID that is banned. I know there’s a way with the infectus chip to “copy” another console ID, but then if both console goes on Live, they’ll get banned for sure.
What if u use a console Id from a f up box

Got 2 moded consoles. Did the same thing with both, played the same game from the same source. One of them got banned after putting a wave 4 game without the activate.iso (got the xbox360 screen, then got banned) Never played unreleased games on any of my consoles.
BS about letting your console open (1. You’ll burn your card 2.My girlfriend was online and got disconnected, tried to login and got the banned message)
Now I know 2 people that I know for sure that are legit. Their console got banned as well.
MS can’t give any information when you call. My guess, they don’t have any. They let their server determine who’s getting banned and to bad. I saw too many people on forums telling they’ll have to buy a new xbox… so why would MS care? Check out the stats for november sales, I’m sure it’ll get a boost… before the end of Q4.
One of my mates got banned last night. He was running 1.6fw on a LiteOn w/ boot disk and played MW2 offline – but was playing Cod 4 (legit version) when the banning occurred.
My guess is someone flagged him or M$ are passing more data back from their consoles than one would have thought when signed in on live?

I think this time we are all screwed with our backups looks like were going to have to have 2 xboxs one modded and one that’s legit in the long run it would be cheaper because if you have to buy a new xbox every year it would get a bit pricey I’ve had 3 years fun so it’s probably time for 2 xboxs and buy pre owned games for when I go online

Bullshit yes you do. Don’t kid yourselved it makes us all look stupid. If you didn’t gét banned, you’d be on live playing instead of typing in this thread…I would. I’ve for 3 yrs now copied every game I could get my hands on, I don’t feel bad for 1 bit of it. During that 3 yrs I’ve been thru 3 xboxes due to rrod, paid for shipping & repair. M$ knows full well why these things redring & how to fix it yet they keep putting them out collecting $250. So I don’t feel bad about what I do. In this 3 yrs I’ve accumulated 112 games, so as I WILL miss playing with my brother online, I’ve got plenty of games to keep my mind off it.
-m$ stands to lose a buttload of $ on live subscriptions, 1 mil. consoles?? My console alone had 2 accts on it @ what, $8/month that’s a huge loss!! For every idiot that puts their machine on craigslist for $70 and puts that $ toward a new console…YOUR NOT HELPING!! I will keep the 360 burn every game blockbuster has to offer weather I want it or not, make em ALL available on torrent, and right after xmas go “legit” for 1 console anyway. Buy a ps3 for the 4 (or so) games a year that I “have to” play online..and continuew to get the bulk of my gaming @ $3.59/game. Bill Gates can blow me. & since I’m typing this on a bootleg copy of windows7 he can blow me twice :)

I also verified every game on abgx360 and still they happened to ban me, there was something i read that you are supposed to put this activate.iso disc in before you put these new wave 4 games and that should make you fool proof microsucks, i don’t give 2 shits thought, i see it as free gamerscore points for me. and if you really wanna get back on live wait until they stop this ban wave and get an infectus chip

just got my first modded xbox a few months ago and iv burned the hell out of games. F*%# M$. oh and also, “i got banned and i dont care”. no seriously. Im going to keep this one for when the time comes back around when something comes out like MW2 or ODST weeks before the street date, and i can play with no worries, its already banned. in the mean time, im sure craigslist has plenty of rrod xbox at 50 bucks a pop that can be fixed for the 1 or 2 legit games i want to play online (left 4 dead……left 4 dead 2 lol) so no worries over here. at least my profile still works, thats all i care about :))

Mr. Nelson, FEDeral LAW states that an ARCHIVE COPY is not ILLEGAL, nor does it consititute piracy.M$ is fighting a ghost, just like the hidden activation with XP and above.
Since you just stated officially that M$ doesn’t check the drive FW, then they must be using hidden dashboard codes to check for iextreme boot sectors or methods, as otherwise the methods used are FLAWLESS.
You HAVE to check the drive FW to see if the drive has ever been reprogrammed.
So EITHER you just perjurized yourself, or (M$ is using proprietary code on M$ hardware, which APPLE lost a class action suit for) you are running hidden checks which, whether I agreed to or not, are done behind my back.THAT is also ILLEGAL.

3 friends consoles i flashed to 1.6 are now confirmed banned. modded wii still works, modded ds still works. nintendo likes thier customers and believes what you do with your property( and once you have a reciept of purchase in hand, it IS your property), is your business. wich is probably why nintendo, being the only console to NOT offer 1080 definition, is outselling microsoft and sony combined.
THE BEST FIX FOR THE XBOX 360 BAN IS to goto tigerdirect.com, or newegg.com and build a gaming rig for less than a new xbox360, then just download your games to the pc. everygame for xbox is also made in a games for windows version, because bill gates is a money hungry prick. if you have modded your xbox, or installed a bootleg copy of windows on pc, then surely you can download borderlands from utorrent or vuse.
and one last thing, DOWNLOADING SOFTWARE FREELY AVAILABLE ON THE INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY IS NOT ILLEGAL. PIRACY IS PIRACY WHEN YOU ARE SELLING SOMEONE ELSES COPYRIGHTED MATERIALS FOR YOUR PERSONAL GAIN. i have never bought or sold anything in that fashion. my friends consoles i modded for free. the games were all downloaded for free.
