October 18, 2009MS to Block ‘unauthorized’ Xbox 360 Storage Devices with new Update
Posted by The Ori
When Preview Program members start receiving the Xbox 360 system update next week, one of the changes is that unauthorized Memory Units will no longer work with the Xbox 360. If you’ve moved your profile or saved games onto one to “back it up,” you’d better move it back onto an authorized Xbox 360 storage device prior to taking the update. If you continue to use an unauthorized Memory Unit after the update, you will not be able to access your stored profile or saved games.
If you need help identifying officially licensed Xbox 360 storage devices or accessories you can read more about the licensed accessories program on Xbox.com

Typical MicroSh*t, but I wanna know dose this affect hacked hard drives by hacked I mean people who replaced the hard drive by opening the HDD case?
I’d like to know that too :)
That was my first thought also, if people who upgraded their own hard drives will have issues….
But what unlicensed memory unit options are available? Some time ago I thought I’d be able to build my own MU from a flash drive but I was never successful in figuring out how. I’ve only ever heard of ione unlicensed item from Datel, I thinkn, that allowed you to ise microSD cards in a reader that plugged into the MU slot. I don’t know when or if it was released….
One word… Microshafted
well i think it covers the modded HHD’s since they have the “M$” “un-modded” files
Third party peripheral firm Datel, who make a range of Max Memory storage units for Xbox 360, says it’s “disappointed” with MS’s decision to stop unofficial memory units working with the 360′s upcoming dashboard update.
“We are following this issue and awaiting the outcome like everyone else,” a Datel rep told CVG.
datel will find a workaround lol
This is one thing I don’t like about M$. They are being cry-babies about 3rd party peripherals. They don’t have ENOUGH market share? Really?
