Xbox 360 System Update

Posted by The Ori

Major Nelson said that their team released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE.  When you sign in to Xbox LIVE you’ll receive a prompt to accept this mandatory update. This update addresses interruption issues that some Xbox LIVE users may have experienced when playing a limited number of Xbox 360 games.

He indicated that there are no other changes or enhancements in this update.

I know, some will ask it it SAFE, but as usual, no one knows, so you take updates at your own risk.  This update is MANDATORY, so you can’t use live unless you update.

Stayed on after updating for about 2 hrs, used private chat, small lags occur, theres hiccups and well, no interference, the update claimed to be imo something to fix interference i guess it worked, i dont hear a static sound anymore. AS for 1.5 seems to be safe. Even after playing GOW 2

all that “Fix interference” thing kinda sounds a little fishy lol

This update stopped my Tversity media server from working – the Xbox would no longer see my PC (though the PlayOn media server continued to work as normal).

Couldn’t find a workaround at this stage, so had to remove the update to get Tversity working again.

I updated on my legit non-modded box and I used my TVersity media server to stream a movie and watched one last night. All is ok for me. Strange you had problems. Are you sure its the update or maybe you have a bad config setup.

Sounds like your box needs an x clamp fix.

It’s not got anything to do with the new update, because mine did the same thing for a little while until I did the x clamp fix thing. It’s basically from where your console gets so hot, that it melts some connections between the GPU and the motherboard. Could also be the case warping and breaking some of those connections.

Well this ‘update’ killed my 360. Now it skips the startup logo after a couple of seconds and freezes on the dashboard. I wish I never bothered now getting one now… Everytime I turn it on… I’m cringing thinking, ‘Will it work?’

Use a heatgun on your gpu and get the X-clamp replacement kit it’s like $8 on amazon.com Your 360 shouldn’t freeze after that.

I’ve arranged for M$ to collect and repair it. The console is only 6 months old.

It only started to freeze after the update; it freezes at exactly the same place every time; regardless of cold boot or warm boot. So that would indicated a f**ked firmware/update.

You can purge bad firmware updates by booting up the 360 while pressing the eject and controler sync buttons at the same time. google that for more info

Yeah; trust me I tried allsorts to get it to work again; but I had to send it away.

It’s strange coz it bottled once before after an update; but I managed to repair it by burning the NXE update to cd; I’ve got another much older console which updated fine … weird!?!

Studioeng I had a 360 that failed an update in middle of it because the dvd drive crapped out. If that wasn’t bad enough after I replaced the drive the game I used (left 4 dead) wouldn’t complete the update! I wound up lucking out by using a different game(nhl09) to finish the update. Good thing too otherwise I’d own a $300 paperweight. Best of luck hope they replace your 360 with the new valhalla board

Some people claimed that they can fix a semi bad update by using the “hold sync button on startup trick”

have you tried that?

Will the multiple updates on xbox live effect my disc drive from reading my DL games?

How the fuck does that have to do with anything?
Dashboard updates do not write to the DVD firmware…
