February 24, 2009Xecuter CK3 Pro and Lite With PPTC Protection
Posted by The Ori
Even though they clearly state in their tutorials to not plug in the DVD power cable the wrong way around, as this will damage the CK3. Well, many users are still doing just that and then of course denying it when sending back for a replacement even though it can be checked, that is what had really happened
So, to make things even more secure they have devised a protection circuit which will stop this happening in future. The first idea was to install a fuse of some sort but that would be a dumb thing to do as if the fuse blew you’d still have to send it back for repair, or repair it yourself with some spare part.
What was done? They added a PPTC circuit (Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient). It can protect the CK3 Lite & Pro from users who did an incorrect installation. It has a reset function so that the PPTC will automatically enter protection mode if the DVD power cable is plugged in the wrong way. What it does; it will cut off the 12V and 5V circuit immediately, and when the user connects the cable the correct way, the PPTC will reset to normal mode. The CK3 will work as normal and there is no need to send back for repair or to replace any parts.
The new version will be shipped in the next new batches to all resellers.
Please note this is not an extra feature, if you connect your cable correctly then it will not matter which version of CK3 you have, They only hope that this new function enhances the stability and protection of the hardware from careless use (users). Also note, this extra circuit has been added at their expense so there will be no price change.
New tutorials will be uploaded shortly to reflect this version and also new techniques and different versions of software that make the job of using the CK3 much easier.
February 21, 2009Hackers target Xbox Live players with DDoS Attacks
Posted by The Ori
Xbox Live is being targeted by malicious hackers selling services that kick players off the network. We were talking about this at PS3-Hacks just the other day…
The booting services are proving popular with players who want a way to get revenge on those who beat them in an Xbox Live game. Whoa, talk about your sore losers huh? Wonder if my son was one of them, he he he…
The attackers are employing data flooding tools that have been used against websites for many years. You can look up DDoS on Wikipedia.
Microsoft is “investigating” the use of the tools, and said those caught using them would be banned from Xbox Live, and that is permenant.
“There’s been a definite increase in the amount of people talking about and distributing these things over the last three to four weeks,” said Chris Boyd, director of malware research at Facetime Communications.
February 17, 2009Microsoft Seeking To Buy 3DV Systems For Use With Xbox
Posted by The Ori
Microsoft is in discussions to purchase Israeli startup 3DV Systems for $35 million, Haaretz.com reported this morning. According to the report, Microsoft intends to use the company’s technology, which enables gamers to control 3DV games using a camera and body gestures, to add to its Xbox offerings. The company’s ZCam product can also be used for video-conferencing, though the utility of that for Microsoft is unclear.
Just news…

February 2, 2009Xbox 360 HDMI Sound Issue Remains Unexplained, Unaddressed
Posted by The Ori
You would you like to hear that that the New Xbox Experience HDMI-related sound issue from November has been addressed, but that woulod be a lie. More than two months and 23 pages of complaints to M$ later, it persists.
The response from Microsoft at the time was something along the lines of “we’re looking into it,” while others reported tech support indicated it was an older TV- or hardware-related issue.
Since then, 23 pages of discussion over the issue have sprouted up at the official Xbox forums, and still there has allegedly been no response from customer support. A rumored–a completely unconfirmed rumor–indicates this may be addressed with a February update.
This should be addressed immediately. Though, I am not having any problems with HDMI and the NXE, apparently some people do. SO, what can it be, since mine is fine? Well, who knows, but there is proof that there is an issue with all those complaints.
1/3/09 UPDATE: Starting Tuesday morning at 0200 Pacific when you sign into Xbox Live you’ll be prompted for a mandatory dashboard update. The update addresses the issue that a few folks were having with audio and their HDMI connection.
This update will be rolled out to all Xbox LIVE members around the world over the space of a few hours, so you may not get prompted for the update immediately. Thanks for your patience.
