Reminder: 360 memory upgrade program ends Saturday

Posted by The Ori

Last call for those Xbox 360 Arcade console owners who are looking to take advantage of Microsoft’s NXE storage solution offer.  The program — which was setup to get Arcade and CORE console owners storage to install the NXE — ends this Saturday, January 31st when Microsoft will pull the plug on the website. To receive either your free 512MB memory card or to take advantage of their 20GB HDD + 3 Months live deal, simply head over to the official memory request website.

I did this with an Arcade Edition I bought, the total is like 33.00 shipped.

Xflasher 360 v0.75

Posted by The Ori

Trancy released a new version of Xflasher 360 on modcontrol.com. The tool is now also available in english and french:

He Wrote: In the past there have been many users who have had problems when it comes to flashing their drive under Windows (Drive-bricking, Windows freezes, etc.) so I have decided to program a DOS-based tool that automatically does the following:

* Copying of the DVD-Drive Firmware
* Spoofing/patching of the Firmware
* Flashing the DVD-Drive with iXtreme

The Tool: Xflasher completes the entire Flash-Procedure. For this the original firmware as well as the the files iXtreme.bin, org.bin, key.bin, identify.bin, inquiry.bin or dummy.bin are placed in separate folders. Note: Not all of the files mentioned above are created for every drive model.

DVD drives from Lite-On, BenQ, and Samsung/Toshiba are supported. It is not possible to flash Hi-tachi drives under DOS at the moment, if this should change in the future then newer versions of Xflasher will most probably be released with the added support.

What’s new/fixed in v0.75:
* Added option for read the DVD-Key several times
* Fix for read Samsung/BenQ DVD-ROM
* Added USB-formatting tool with DOS
* Added language menu at 1st start
* Added english language
* Added english How to
* Added french language
* Added french How to
* Bug fixing
* Fix for show correct ANSI-Fonts (German: like ä and ü) under Dos.

Cygnos360 (Modchip) News Update and Guides

Posted by The Ori

* Cygnos 360 about to hit the road!
Sometimes things take longer than you inteded but now we are almost ready to ship. We had to change our manufacturer which cost us time but now everything seems good!

* Downloads/Guides:
-Installation of Cygnos360
-Tutorial on Downgrading an xbox 360
-Cygnos360 NAND Tool v0.9

Cygnos360 Cygnos360

* What is Cygnos360?
Cygnos360 is a Modchip that allows you to have more than one kernel version on your xbox 360. Currently users can only have either a vulnerable kernel version (4532 or 4548) OR the current kernel version that is neccessary to use xbox live and play the newest games. Cygnos360 enables you to conveniently switch between your “live kernel” and your “homebrew kernel”. You can also use Cygnos360 to switch between PAL and NTSC kernels.
NOTE: Cygnos360 does not contain any kernel image! It is shipped empty! Cygnos360 does NOT enable “backups” it is NOT for the DVD drive. You need to have an infectus programmer or another programmer to flash the Cygnos360.

Please note that some of the possible uses of Cygnos 360 require you to know your Xbox 360 CPU key. At the moment, this key can only be extracted by booting a vulnerable kernel, such as version 4532 or 4548. If your current kernel version is newer than 4548, you will have to downgrade, which is up to date only possible with non HDMI Xbox 360 models (as far as we know production dates earlier than July 2007 are safe)
A kernel version older than 4532 does not pose a problem, since it can be upgraded to either version 4532 or 4548. Downgrading the Xbox 360 as well as programming Cygnos 360 assumes the temporary installation of an Infectus 1 or 2 mod-chip.

BenHeck 3600 Controller

Posted by The Ori

Yesterday Ben Heck had a Facebook status as saying I was “being frustrated by potentiometers” – a rather normal day for him. For whatever reason this prompted one of his friends to suggest he build an Xbox 360 controller inside of an Atari 2600 controller shell; and so he thought “That’s dumb enough to work!”

Well, 5 hours later he had what you see down below – the Xbox 3600 controller! This is an Atari 2600 controller with wireless Xbox 360 controller guts inside of it (not entirely true, read on), batteries too. The big red “fire” button is “A”, and the other buttons are attached to the side.

Ok, so you need to know that the Xbox 3600 wireless controller was accomplished by using the guts of ,not a normal 360 wireless controller, but the circuits froma Guitar Hero 3 controller. You can tell by looking at the PCBoard, that it is NOT a OEM 360 controller. The GH3 PCBoard provides anyone with an easy method to make their own controller.

Benq/Lite-On Batch Files, Build 2009.01.04

Posted by The Ori

If you liked X360SAM (info), now you can flash BenQ/LiteOn the same way!

It will be a collection of batch files which allow you to “manage” flashing of BenQ and LiteOn firmwares in the same way that the batch files for X360SAM operate. In other words, the batch files are the same as the ones for X360SAM and Samsung drives, except:
1) they use FIRMTOOL instead of X360SAM
2) they use DOSFLASH 1.3 and DOSFLASH 1.7 instead of MTKFLASH
3) they’re for BenQ and LiteOn drives instead of Samsungs!

CHANGES SINCE LAST VERSION (apart from the LiteOn)
* BenQ files use DFLASH13.EXE instead of DOSFLASH.EXE
* If FIRMTOOL.EXE encounters a problem, the resulting BHACKED.BIN is deleted as it probably has the wrong key.
* If you run BENREMOD.BAT then change your mind, it exits cleanly.

Download N/A yet! Under Development, but check Eurasia.nu for anything new in their downloads section.

XIM2 360 Mod Keyboard and Mouse Support for 360

Posted by The Ori

From engadget.com:

Do you really want to use your mouse / keyboard combo on your Xbox 360? Do you got the funds to drop $179.95 for the privilege? If so, then you should probably know that XIM’s ready and willing to oblige you. The XIM 2 module, which is supposedly plug ‘n play in nature, is at long last available for ordering, though it’s not quite ready for shipment.
