Lite-On iXtreme coming soon?

Posted by The Ori

A iXtreme firmware is soon to be released for the Xbox360’s LiteOn DG-16D2S drive.

Release is scheduled for the day before Christmas. More details will be available upon release (Yeah, like how they’re flashing the Lite-On?). In preparation of the release, it is recommended that you purchase some of the available hardware listed below to assist you in the process of extracting the key. If you already possess and are capable of using a RS232 to TTL converter (serial) then you do not need to purchase any of the hardware listed below. If you have already dumped your key, no other modifications will be necessary.

Both Xecuter and Maximus offer Solderless (with the usage of the “Spear” or “Probe”) methods to extract your key.
If you already own a Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3, a tutorial on how to extract the key is listed here
If you already own a Maximus 360 Xtractor, the manual may be viewed here for usage.

Buy Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3 PRO: mrmodchips | divineo | consolesource
Buy Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3 LITE: mrmodchips | divineo | consolesource
Buy Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3 Probe: mrmodchips

There is not much detail here; we were under the impression the Lite-On has no FLASH to FLASH, so why are they releasing Lite-On firmware if there is no flash?  It has to be embedded in the chip on the logic-board.  I guess we’ll find out what’s going on before Santa arrives…

Thanks, but ive also have a question. Could I get banned if im on iXtreme and if I dont go on xbox live?

no. you will (most likely) only get banned if you connect to xbox live with a) a non-stealth disc, b) a beta or review disc or c) a disc with the wrong region code should you decide to region-free your drive

yes you will get banned actually. if theres a problem with the disk the xbox stores it and when ever u plug in a lan cable that hooked to the net it sends those reports to microsoft. then in 15 days BANNO

Yea I don’t know if you saw that announcement in the forums but it says something along the lines of “Do NOT ask if you will get banned off LIVE using this, that, or the other. We aren’t Microsoft, no one here works for Microsoft, so we don’t know.”

The 360 “farms” information, and will transmit it when the LAN cable it in. If there are anomalies, you can be banned. It may take till the next b an wave, or up to 14 days, it all depends. You do not have to be signed in for communications to take place, as long as the lan cable is IN, it gets transmitted.

So why exactly would I spend money now on a hack that hasn’t even been done yet?

You don’t have to, but you do need some sort of RS232 device to dump the key. I use one that i made myself, only cost about 5 dollars.

BY THE WAY, THIS WILL BE RELEASED ON DEC 24, ALONG WITH IXREME 1.5

The only problem of using a RS232 is that if you can’t power up the drive its useless. You could power it of the 360, but if its on, it could dectect that the sata cable is unplugged, n writes to a log n sent to microsoft later on when connected. It may be ok to do it once or twice, but dont do it often. It would be nice for ppl who have the V1/V2 of the connectivity kit though.

there is more to it than what retail model your xbox is. to find out if this will work on your xbox, you will have to find out what kind of dvd drive your xbox uses by opening it up (and voiding your warranty). I suggest you dont do it if you are new to opening electronics up and modifying them

what are you talking about? last time i checked 3 quarters of a circle wasn’t a ring. the ring of death is when ur box scratches the game disk giving u a ring

Wrong. You don’t know much about xbox 360 at all.

RROD is another term for 3ROD/3ROL, and you only get 4 red lights if YOUR AV CABLE IS UNPLUGGED, or a bad ANA chip. If your media is scrached, you won’t get ANY red lights, it will simply show up as “Unplayable Disk” in the dashboard.

wow this will be my last response. i know rrod is another term but its because idiots couldint tell the diff so now everyone call’s it that. even tho it isint. the proper name is 3-lod. “4 red lights if YOUR AV CABLE IS UNPLUGGED,” then y do you call it a ring of death? you know that 4 lights are the av cable yet you call 3 lights a ring? i know what happens when ur disk is scratched and know that there are no lights for it. b4 the 3rlod there was what EVERYONE called “the ring of death” this ring of death is when u move you 360 from vertical to horizontal (or vise versa) and this movement moves the disk in the drive scratching it in a perfect cirle and thus the “RING OF DEATH” was born. then when 3rlod started happening people got lazy and called it “red ring of death” now shut your ignorant ass up and give valid points. Ori really needs to do a post on this to school u noobs.

tl;dr
why don’t you do some reasearch first, and maybe ACTUALLY BUY A XBOX 360 before acting like a smartass and trying to correct people with your wrong, and mindless crap?

I say the SAME THING, it is not a complete RING if only 3-lights are lit. I call it 3LOD because that’s exactly what it is. There is a condition that causes all four lights to come on, completing the RING; so what are YOU going to call that? RROD? or RRROD (Real Red Ring of Death)? So, that would also mean to you RROD saying people that a Waning or Waxing Gibbous is a FULL MOON? No, it’s 3/4 moon. Would you give your wife to be, 3/4 of a ring? NO, so how can RROD be a complete ring, when it is NOT. People just made that up, and it stuck, just like “pwned” is OWNED, as people are just destroying the English language. RROD = Red Ring Of Death, well, it isn’t a RING when three lights of FOUR (four making a complete ring) are lit. Say what you want, that’s REALLY what it is.

Google rrod and see what comes up. It will always bring up the 3 red lights so rrod is a common term used for that get over it people…

It’s only common because incompetent, and illiterate people made it that way, when it is NOT A RING.

Can someone plz tell me if this method of flashing requires the swaping of the Liteon drive for another (Samsung) drive.

Comment by koiokp
2008-12-12 20:44:59

nope its hacked just the same as the samsung/benq/hitachi… No need for drive swap, the only difference is it will require a Connectivity Kit V3/Maximus or RS232 and perfered external power connectivity kit not from xbox to read the drive key. It will also need a compable sata driver card like the other drives
