Cygnos360 Dual NAND “ModChip” for Xbox360

Posted by The Ori

Cygnos, a team of dedicated console “technicans” is proud to anounce the upcoming release of our first product called “Cygnos360″. Cygnos360 is a modchip for the easy installation directly onto the underside of the xbox360 mainboard.

Cygnos360 is a dual kernel modchip which adds a secondary NAND flash to the xbox 360 mainboard. It allows switching between the onboard NAND flash and the Cygnos360 NAND flash. By doing so, users can have an exploitable kernel version such as “4532″ or “4548″ at the same time as the current kernel version required to play the latest games. Cygnos360 can also be used for switching between kernels patched with different region codes so that users can easily switch between US and EU games for example.

Cygnos360

A quick summary of the features:
- adds secondary flash to hold an “alternative kernel” that users can switch to
- fits directly on the bottom side of the xbox360 mainboard
- needs only one wire running on the board
- easy to use “quicksolder pads” which at the same time make sure that the modchip is stuck to the mainboard and does not fall around.
- has solder pads for external switch
- comes with on PCB status LED
- comes with solder pads for external status LED (LED not included)
- Cygnos360 is delivered empty!

This is quite useless if you have a new xbox, but very useful if you have a exploitable one

You mean one with a motherboard this NAND replacement chip will fit on. As long as it will fit it does not matter which kernel you have. This is really similar to the old Undiluted Platinum modchip that came out for the psp before we had cfw and pandora batteries. You could use it to load 1.50 onto one NAND and load the latest firmware on the other NAND

Wrong, this ALLOWS the exploitable kernel to be run on any Xbox360. adds secondary flash to hold an alternative kernel that users can switch to. That’s what they claim. If the theory about the eFuses are correct, this would not work on ANY Xbox360 that has been updated since they discovered the hole.

ANY??
How are the people with the new xbox 360 going to make a 4532 dump then?

Probably going to have to FIND and DOWNLOAD one to be burned to the chip.

Also, I was wondering how an exploitable kernel could be run on the XB360 if the eFuses were blown to prevent it in the first place. Is everyone going to have to open up their BRAND NEW console and remove the supply voltage resistor? There are no real details on the device.

Also Ori, your concept is wrong. Every firmware is encrypted with a per-box key, so you cannot simply take sum1 else’s dump and flash it on this chip, and use it yourself. you’ll need to know the cpukey/2KLB (forgot what it was called) to encrypt the dashboard. This is quite useless to new consoles

I’m a noob to the hole xbox scene but i completely understand the psp but dont understand about the xbox which are exploitable and i thought it was just the drives that were exploitable. Sorry probably not the best place to ask since its not a blog but i figured what the heck why not it is the number one xbox site on the web. Would appreciate some pointers.

you still can downgrade to exploitable kernel using timing method and infectus modchip.. but that’s a lot of work though
