October 30, 2008NETFLIX Issues: HDCP -vs- DVI & Component Limitations?
Posted by The Ori
As it turns out, 1080i works with NetFlix over component.
The copy protection with the new HD Netflix streaming service on the Xbox 360 requires an HDCP compatible display device. This is true with HDMI. If you try play a movie while not connected to an HDCP compatible display, you will get the “Secure HDCP Link Not Found” error.
The original issue was for people that have a non-HDCP LCD monitors, or are hooked up via DVI to their Xbox 360, that you were out of luck. Was was not clear either, was whether your resolution be limited to 480p if you have an older Xbox 360 with only component outputs.
Bottom line: Some older LCD monitors don’t support HDCP over DVI. If you’re in the group of people using an HDMI to DVI adapter to drive an older display that doesn’t do HDCP, then HD Netflix won’t work, since it can’t authenticate.

just use a spatz hdcp stripper it will remove all copy protection
:)
If you remove HDCP, then the HDCP compliant HDTVs will not display the picture. That’s the point of the post,to let people know than NON HDCP complaint TVs will not display a picture with HDMI. It is working with Component to 1080i.
just fuck off fuckers
I have a 360 connected via VGA cable and have had no problems streaming HD from Netflix – no error messages, 1080i confirmed by my sonyxbr4.
I just got bit by this. Sharing a ViewSonic VA2226w monitor with both VGA and DVI inputs with my PC, was using VGA cable for the 360 and DVI for the PC with no issues. Switched to a PC with only VGA output, so I needed to switch to HDMI-DVI connection for the 360, and now I see white noise on some (not all) Netflix movies. Seems stupid, using the same monitor, same xbox, same resolution, but switching to HDMI-DVI instead of VGA means I can’t see everything that I could before, due to HDCP.
