September 30, 2008Jasper Xbox 360s on the Shelves?
Posted by The Ori
Just as a Heads Up:
According to the Xbox 360 DVD Drive Database, it appears Xbox 360s outfitted with the highly anticipated Jasper revision boards, with the 65nm chipset (65nm GPU and CPU) may have finally started showing up in stores and at online retailers.
The things to look for when buying a new Xbox 360 with the Jasper chipset is a manufacturing date (MFR) as early as 2008-08-06, Lot 8031 and up, and Team CSON.
Next revision is Valhalla, with a unified single chip CPU/GPU design.

What does “Jasper revision boards, with the 65nm chipset (65nm GPU and CPU)” do? Does it stop TRROD?
lower power consumption and thermal output as well as being cheaper to produce than the 90nm counterparts (processors/gpus/etc are produced on silicon wafers, the more you can fit on a wafer the better as companies pay by the wafer and not by each indiviual chip, so the more you can fit on a wafer the cheaper per chip it is to produce.
i hope ye who do these news items read this, because this NEEDS to be taken with a grain of salt. first off, the primariy sources havent provided anything concrete. all they have used to justify that they are jasper units is lower noise and minor things like that. they havent actually taken the system apart and compared numbers on the gpu with the known numbers on orginal and falcon motherboard gpus so theres NOTHING concrete here. also, when each was pressed for proof (aka taking it apart and comparing model numbers on the gpu) those claiming to have jasper units have shown no proof at all. as much as im waiting for the jasper units to hit shelves this NEEDS to be taken with a large grain of salt because there is a very good chance that those who are making these claims are just spewing shit out of their mouths.
sorry about double posting here, but this is taken directly from the top of the page that is refrenced:
2008-09-30: Regarding Jasper in the news lately, it seems there are no substantial evidence that it’s out yet. Please only submit entries if you are 100% certain it’s a Jasper motherboard. A way to identify the new GPU would be to compare it to the older revisions.
So putting the CPU and GPU on the same board is supposed to REDUCE the overheating problems ?
Oh who cares, its cheaper to produce !
Well, after my 360 RROD’d on me, I called MS. I asked about Jasper. They said it hasn’t been released yet. They said it would probably be released by December.
