May 31, 2008Itagaki: Xbox 360 is the Most Powerful Hardware
Posted by The Ori
From an interview with Team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden II) developer Tomonubu Itagaki on mcvuk.com:
MCV: “Ninja Gaiden II has got some great previews from the press - how proud of it are you?”
Itagaki: “I’m very happy with it. It’s not 100 per cent as I think that’s not possible to do, but I think that I was successful in making a game that no one else could. This is a game that only my team and I would be able to make.”
MCV: “Do you prefer to develop on the Xbox 360, rather than the other consoles?”
Itagaki: “Yes. In my opinion it is the most powerful hardware. I have a lot of friends that develop on it so in some ways I regard it like being at home when I’m working on it. There’s no reason for me to go to a strangers house to make games.”

So why has his latest game had average reviews and has slow down in the game. I guess they still don’t know how to fully exploit the ‘Most powerful hardware’. Also, how much money does M$ put his way lol. There are better games on the 360 than this. The original is better than the latest title.
yes of course the xbox 360 is more powerfull(being sarcastic) i wonder how much m$ paid him to say that. wait until metal gear solid 4 comes to the p3, lets see which one is more powerfull;)
here the ps3 fanboys go again……… SHUT THE F*CK UP ALREADY!
i have bot. the ps3 is way faster, the xbox360 is just crap. they said it is the most powerful console as it is a exclusive xbox360 title. really lame. (why are you getting so angry dragon-x? are you jealous that the ps3 rocks and the xbox360 lames :o])
The PS3 is faster, unfortunately, the developers find it difficult to program across SIX processors.
Serial and Parallel (multi-thread) execution are very different, and for Parallel execution, you really only need HALF the power of a serial (single thread) processing CPU.
The PS3 is powerful, but does NOT execute code in two threads per core. They are actually EQUAL in code execution because:
Xb360 is 3 cores at 2 threads per core = 6 threads at once.
PS3 is 6 SPEs at one thread per core = 6 threads of at once.
Anyone see the deal there?
YES, the CELL has 8 SPEs, but one is a backup for a real-time failure, and the other is a redundancy in case of a MFG defect. Only SIX are used for gaming and XMB.
Also, the Cell has a general Purpose CPU like a 360 core, but it is used as a micro-controller. So, the CELL has NINE processors total…
I own BOTH consoles, and the only games that ARE good on PS3 are their exclusive titles, because they have no choice but to write from scratch, and not PORT like 80% of PS3 games are.
DO THE MATH, the PS3 has to be twice as fast to be on the same level as 360, because of the way code is executed- at 1 thread times 6 = 6, and 360 at TWO threads times 3 = SIX!
IT is funny how people just post to HATE. It’s simply what the guy said, but I think PS3 people think everything said about the XB360 must be carved in stone or something.
NONE of it is carved in stone, it is just what people say, and what THEY FEEL themselves, as a developer of games for the console. Last I knew, GOD has never opinionated on any consoles, so, it is what people think.
The day GOD has something to say about one, then it’s carved in stone, ‘ey?
theres a difference between “most powerful” and “easiest to get the most potential out of”, the 360 fitting the bill of the latter of the two. the ps3 beats out the 360 in raw power in both real world benchmarks as well as in theoritical performance, the 360 however is MUCH easier to work with and thus easier to get the most out of it, but it is not the most powerful. contray to what you have said, it IS set in stone.
and this is just taking the consoles into consideration, throw a high end pc into the ring and watch both systems get their asses kicked in terms of powerful hardware.
amen
it isn’t what he thinks. it’s the only console he is actually programming for, it’s an exclusive title ;o]
ive got ninja gaiden on the ps3 and now ninja gaiden 2 on the xbox360 and they practically look identical. NG on the ps3 was great and the first couple of levels ive played of NG2 seem just as good. im just glad i own both consoles and that i am able to enjoy both games…all the fanboys who support one console are missing out and they always will.. but thats their loss.
i’m pretty sure that this is an exclusive title for the xbox360. i have both the xbox360 and the ps3… my xbox360 is disassembled for month and i won’t reassemble it because it’s just crap. ps3 is far better. nice to look, nice to play and nice games. xbox360 is just lame.
sorry m$ you really failed.
sorry for the double post.
but even the wii is way better than the xbox360 less power but far better in games and innovation (and homebrew, even a homebrew channel =D).
……………………. yeah yeah - get a life!
owned
don’t worry, i have a life. but a fable for it ;o]
julian, you don’t need much to get owend. LOl :o]
fyi…ninja gaiden was 1st on xbox 1 and got ported to ps3 just shut you guys up by saying all these stuff. i mean your playing on xbox 1 graphics ou,kinda sucked for me. and ninja gaiden 2 is just to darn difficult… my one xbox controller ….(god rest its circuits) felt my anger.. shame
Anyways im glad to see some game designers stay loyal despite the difficult stages.. maybe ill play again someday, my ninja gaiden 2 is just laying there collecting dust anwyays
