Microsoft denies Blu-ray rumors, again:

"As we have stated, we have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360," said a Microsoft official in an email to GamePro on Monday. "Games are what drive consumers to purchase game consoles, and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available."

On Friday, the Economic Daily News (via Digitimes) reported that Pegatron Technology has secured an order from Microsoft to manufacture Xbox 360 models with internal Blu-ray drives for release this fall.

You know, this is CRAP, because they should do something. They already have a game that spans THREE discs. I will NEVER buy a game that requires more than one game disc... They should at least get in with that new Quad layer DVD technology, so the format is the same, they just need the better drives. I hope by 2010 or 11 they use BR-D or other large capacity drive. They should make their own PROPRIETARY drive; that would fix game copying.

I think maybe there has been some confusion in translation. It is possible that they are referring to the Blue ray version when they are saying "HD equipped XB360" as blue ray is a form of HD or High Definition video format. my 2 pence

Its BS, there is no way they will make two versions one HD and one blu-ray. Firstly why would oyu buy the HD version if they are making a blu-ray version if they arnt producing any new movies. Plus production has halted on all hd-dvd drives. So i guess the HD-dvd is BS. The blu-ray perhaps might be true but again like was mentioned in the artical a new console is due in 2 years so I dont think they would make a new console. What about all the other people like me with an old console. Mine would be worth shit in the resale market and if games come out on blu ray I couldnt play them and would have to buy a new console. There would be consumer out cry and a back lash towards M$ and I dare say they would proberbly loose a lot of people to sony. If the do decide to support bluray it would have to be an add on drive like the HD-DVD drive, and im pretty sure if they wanted to they could make it boot games.
So I say its BS.
