Simply plug the adapter into the A/V port on the back of your 360 and run the included HDMI cable from the adapter to your HDTV and you’re ready to play. The optical audio port provides an alternative setup solution and everything you need to get full HD output from your Xbox 360 is right inside the box. Convenient, simplified HDMI connectivity makes the Mad Catz HDMI Conversion Kit the ideal choice for getting the most from what your console has to offer. Mad Catz promises innovative, quality products for all your gaming needs.

Convenient right-out-of-the-box HDMI solution
Upgrades console for digital signal transmission
Supports screen resolutions up to 1080p
Optical audio port for versatile connectivity
Supports stereo and multi-channel surround sound
Dolby Digital and DTS compatible
BONUS! Includes HDMI & Optical Cables
Everything included inside - just plug and play

There is nothing listed for this product at their official site . I also wonder if there will be any LAG, as it has to convert the Analog signals to Digital.

Well, I would have gotten this, only it’s $90 and I can upgrade to an Elite 360 for only €90. Not really worth my while! :D Looks like a nice product though, in any case.

But wait, the main reason for me to want hdmi is so I can take advantage of upconverting dvd’s, which is legal only over hdmi and vga - does this allow the 360 to upconvert, or probably not.

If the 360 upconverts, there are no legalities about it. All the converter does is change the analog signal, to a digital one, that will be able to be used with a HDTV with an HDMI input. If you have a TV that only has HDMI in for video, then this is your ticket. Other than that, there are no improvements over the analog signal, because it is being CONVERTED to digital… SO, if you has a bad analog signal converted to digital will still show the flaws in the the digital converted signal. All this does it make your XBOX360 cost more than a new one, which have HDMI ports, and more than the Elite model. You paid 399.99 for the Premium at one time, now another 90.00 for a converter? Not worth it, just news…

he means upscales DVDs from 576p to an HD resolution, not upconverts. youre ranting about the wrong kettle of fish. And to answer your question, No, the 360 does not upscale DVDs.

I know what he’s talking about as far as UPSCALING, he’s asking about LEGALITIES with HDMI, and well, I have an upscaling DVD player using Component, so it’s not just an HDMI issue.

Also, you say from 576p, when normal for U.S. is 480p, 576p is the low for PAL consoles. HE does not indicate where he is from, and what video format he is using.

FAKE! convert analog AV 360 output to digital ‘HDMI’??
360–>INTERNAL DIGITAL PROCESS–>DA CONVERSION–>AV OUTS–>ANALOG COMPRESS SIGNAL–>TV… put FAKE HDMI ADAPTER HERE: ANALOG COMPRESS SIGNAL–>FAKE HDMI ADAPTER–>TV you see?

It is NOT fake, you can covert analog signals to digital (called a A to D Converter). There are more expensive devices (150.00 and up) that have been doing this for years now. Again, the digital converted signal will only be as good as the inputted signal.

i think you may be confused on to what this device does. it uses the 360 vga output. in the vga output the 360 does upconvert or upscale dvds, and it is all digital signal,(hdmi only accepts digital signals) to for all the 360 owners who dont have a hdmi console this is a great product.ive heard early reviews before the it actually hit the stores, stating that the adapter got hot as an iron and distorted the sound and picture. newer reviews since it is more widely available have been great no down sides, yet
