September 30, 2007Bungie Confirms: Halo 3 Doesn’t Run Natively in HD

Yeah, so more Halo III news. There has been nothing new in the Hacking scene, so news it is:
The latest Bungie Weekly Update has Luke Smith confessing that in fact, Halo 3 doesn’t run natively at 720p like all other Xbox 360 games:
“Halo 3 uses not one, but two frame buffers - both of which render at 1152×640 pixels. The reason we chose this slightly unorthodox resolution and this very complex use of two buffers is simple enough to see - lighting. We wanted to preserve as much dynamic range as possible - so we use one for the high dynamic range and one for the low dynamic range values. Both are combined to create the finished on screen image.”

It’s funny that all the lems were hyping this game for its “superior graphics” when it can’t even run smoothly in 720P mode. The graphics aren’t even that good. Believe it or not, I have VERY similar graphics on HaloPC with all settings maxed out. All it needs is a few more polys. I’ll admit that the story is good though, but that’s all Halo has.
The graphics are decent, but aren’t what they were said to be. The gameplay is fun, but it’s still pretty generic. But I have to admit, the story is good though.
well. personally i was very imprtessed with the graphics of halo 3, sharp and detailed, me and all ma m8es were well impressed by it =] and the gameplay is awesome
