Dump and Flash the BenQ VAD6038 drive

Posted by The Ori

Team Modfreakz released a guide explaining how to read and flash an Xbox360 BenQ VAD6038 ODD. The easier ‘method1′ (no need to remove epoxy) requires cutting two traces on the ODD motherboard and installing a simple switch. This will cut the 3,3V power supply for SPI. The drive should go into recovery mode if none flash present. MTKflash will not work with this drive, you’ll have to use Schtrom’s DosFlash v1.0 with dosflash.typ modification required for this drive. You can download it. There’s no iXtreme firmware for this drive yet, but it’s in progress atm together with a new Maximus 360 Firmware Toolbox with support for this drive (no ETA).
