Use the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for PSP Gaming!

Posted by greg

Quite a nifty hack jay123_2 has managed to pull off using a combination of pre-existing apps/tools for the PSP & Windows. Now you can play PSP games using the Xbox 360 wireless controller!

Requirements:

How to:

  • Run configure_joypad.exe from the USBHostFS package
  • Configure your Xbox 360 wireless controller & save the profile
  • Start usbhostfs.exe
  • Start iR shell and go to iR configuration settings; set options accordingly:
Redirect APP View to Host: Enable
Redirect Keypad to Host: Via usbhost0
Allow Adhoc PC Connection for Homebrew: Enable
  • Configure NetHost settings so they reflect your home network
  • Save & test it out

At a loss? Confused? Check out the discussion thread for further assistance. Nice work, dude.

Timing Attack Complete — Downgrade from any Xbox 360 Kernel

Posted by greg

Finally some good news for Xbox 360 hackers. A fellow by the name of Robinsond has managed to successfully boot a flashed eFuse Xbox 360 with kernel 1888 using the time attack method. An astonishing breakthrough, no doubt. Once this hack is further developed and later optimized, any average Joe should be able to utilize it and take advantage of running unsigned code. Homebrew on the 360, oh yes!

Done it! My bricked box – one blown eFuse but no CPU key and no valid flash dump that would boot (I did have a valid 2241 dump though that would no longer boot because of the eFuse) – is now alive and well and booting 2.0.1888 with a patched CB (LD count = 1) and a “guessed” hash. Even doing it “manually” only took 3 evenings ;) Now, sleep

Just to be clear, the timing attack will allow you to downgrade to 2.0.1888. You can then upgrade to 4532 & run the KK sploit and obtain your CPU keys. You should be able to replace the original CB after the upgrade (this needs to be confirmed) and then the only “clue” to what happened is that you may have 1 or 2 more burned eFuses for the HV/Kernel version you are running.

It should be possible, soon, for anyone with an Infectus modchip and 20 Euros worth of homebrew hardware to downgrade. Dont forget the Kiosk disk is usable again too!

Feds Raid Video Game Modders

Posted by greg

This site needs an update, and I found the following to be relevant and actually quite interesting… Thanks for the news tip manny.

U.S. customs agents raided 32 homes and businesses early Wednesday, searching for hardware that allows pirated video games to play on the popular PlayStation 2, Xbox and Wii consoles.

According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, the search warrants were served in 16 states, including California, Illinois, New York and Texas, as agents looked for evidence of the importation, sale and distribution of the modification devices made overseas and smuggled into the country.

The so-called “mod chips” and “swap discs” targeted by the searches let gamers play pirated titles or counterfeit copies on Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 2, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox and Xbox 360, and Nintendo Co.’s Wii video game machines.
