Remember “Zephyr?” At the time it was only speculation… But now, today, it’s official — the Xbox 360 Elite!
The Xbox 360 Elite features HDMI and comes with a 120GB drive. It’s scheduled for release April 29th and will retail for $479. The 120GB drive can be purchased separately and will cost $179 — it comes with a cable and the required software to migrate from your old 20GB drive.
And you guessed it, no integrated HD-DVD drive. Damn you, Microsoft!

Nice…but I agree with Greg. There should be an internal HD-DVD. At that price…they should have added some extra goodies like built-in wireless and a wireless headset among others. If you add up all these extras that Sony has (even internal rechargable batteries for the controllers which Sony has)…the pricepoint for the Xbox 360 Elite is still more than Sony’s PS3. I’m not partial to any system…I’ve owned all three…sold my Xbox 360 a while back so I’ll eventually pick up this new Xbox…but I am going to wait a little while longer to see if they add the cooler chipset. There’s always a chance Microsoft will release a 360 Ultimate (Vista owners anyone?) that will include all the bells and whistles that Sony has with their machine…but that’s for a different topic in time…
Bit late with the HDMI I think, since I’ve had my 360 since launch. But I spose it may attract some new 360 players which is good. HD-DVD would have been nice tho ;-P

looks pretty badass. too bad about the HD-DVD thing though. but, love the color & hopefully ill get it before halo 3.

this is bs!!! anyone who cared about xbox got one a long time ago and now that ps3 is starting to get some games out they come out with this? why should i buy this? will m$ just come out with something better in a year or two? it seems to me m$ is fuc*ing their loyal fans.
exacally they think they will kill the ps3 buy selling a black collored xbox with hdmi and 120 gig 2 YEARS after launch meanwile ps3 has all this stuff (not 120 thou) but its not worth getting a new one, if they want to change for the good make something good that ppl will want to buy this is by far the stupidest thing microsoft has ever done i mean at least put wifi. microsoft also said there thinking of putting blue ray wich is just stupid because now they might make another one with blue ray. whats the point of doing this enyways if you want to but another one just do that itll make microsoft happy:(

lol geez, calm down now, microsoft just has another option for those who NEED hdmi (I think components look great) and want more hard drive space for their planned multimedia downloads. Personally I don’t care about that stuff so for me I’ll keep my old one. This will also drive down the price of the 20gb model before the holidays, making it an EVEN BETTER deal (Live is worth $4 a month; PSN is a work in progress, Live is now). besides, the ps3 ALREADY has new models on the way out, so I guess we’ve ALL been screwed and should ALL sue our console makers.

Do a little research, there is an 80GB model (modol) coming, and plenty of interviews with Sony executives saying that they WANT many different models of ps3s. It would be smart to wait for a future model if you want a ps3, hopefully they have more sufficient memory (physical AND video) by then, if they do i might get one in a few years.
if you want to HAVE FUN playing games and don’t want to invest $600+ in MERE POTENTIAL, just buy a 20G 360 for now and wait until 2010 for Sony to catch up.

ARE YOU FUCKEN STUPID ps3 already had bluetooth you can hook up enything bluetooth and use it for your ps3 (not cellphone) and your so called new ps3 is just a rumer saying that a later ps3 might have ps2 memery cards and a 80 gig hardrive. just buy a laptop hardrive and put it in your ps3. my god.

too bad the dvd-drive doesn’t support HD. the add-on is ‘ok’, but it’s still another thing to put on the entertainment center. maybe the next gen will have hd support.
