It was mentioned a few weeks ago, and now with a little technical know-how, you too can boot Ubuntu Linux on the Xbox360! That is, of course, if you’re running one of the following [exploitable] kernels: 4532 or 4548. As well, you’ll require a copy of King Kong, and Xtreme Firmware must be flashed on the 360’s DVD-ROM drive.

haha, but really it’s not — ps3 supports linux out of the box, 360 requires the use of an exploit.
Ya but wheres the fun in getting linux to run on it rate out of the box If that was the case for everything this website or any other like this wouldnt exsist. And dose it realy matter if microsoft puts protectoin on the 360 I mean they cant protect anything without some hole in there somewhere. I would also like a 360 for linux more becasue not many programs can use the 7 cores the ps3 has and the 360 has 3 whcih alot of newer programms are supporting.
ok … first off, as far as i know ( and my best friend has a ps3) the ps3 has a shitty version of “linux” and some other REALLY CRAPPY os that tells you useless system information and is almost impossible to exit from unless you change your boot settins and a whole list of stuff that i personally hated going through.
P.S. the contrallers are crap too…
I think this is a great step for the hacking community. Since the 360’s CPU is the equivalent to a 3ghz processor, i think its worth the trouble. Besides, who wants to buy a 600 piece of shit to run linux anyway? 360 rules the world!

I can’t wait until something like XBMC comes out for the 360! I want it to work exactly the same. Although this time with enough power to play HD-video. I guess the problem will be having full transparancy with xbox live.. :/

I say that the xbox 360 will be fully hacked and will be running linux proberly on all machines and that when that day happens microsoft will go down da drain and will upgrade there systems like there already doin now wif the xbox 360 elite lol and that will also be hacked properly on the first day of releash hopfully… To all the sony fans get lost The ps3 is shit. Sony stole every feature off the 360 and put them into the ps3 and named it as something else.
its pretty cool to have ubuntu on a 360, but the steps just to get it on there just isn’t worth it. only if microsoft just accepted it….
i though you had to have a hiatchi dvd drive to you the linux loader ?
