An Xbox Live! update is coming — tomorrow morning actually…
Beginning the morning of Tuesday, October 31, you’ll be able to download a free system update that provides more than 85 new features and enhancements, including support for native 1080p games and movies, faster Arcade game list display times, and even more choices when it comes to video playback options.

Also, apparently Microsoft is beginning to ban [firmware] modded 360s; potentially this may be included with the update. Find out shortly, I guess.

im useing an samsung ms28 drive (new F W ), just done the update and now the xbox will not work, getting error code e66… if you have an hacked fw, stay away from this update…
well the guy above must be talking shit and it aint november yet… dumb fuck, but all i can say is that my little sh!t-box 360 better still work tommorrow morning after the update or i will be an unhappy chappie!

Error Code E66 on mine too, xbox360 has now become a brick, Good in a way at least it will force me to save for a PS3
why do you need to be so rude, just chill out abit, the error only comes on if you have a samsung drive ms28 with firmware older then the new 4.2…
not true #4.it is right now unknown what specific firmware hack/firmware revision drive (ms 25/28) is more vulnerable to e66.
there’s even been a couple people with no firmware hack reporting the error.(about two that i’ve read.)SO IF YOUR SAMSUNG FIRMWARE IS HACKED, DO NOT THINK YOU ARE WORRY FREE FROM AN E66 CODE.
however, it does not BRICK your drive.do some research.IT CAN BE FIXED.
some have reported that unpugging your dvd drive from your 360 completely, will keep it safe from an error if you update that way.BULLSHIT (more than likely)the update, from what we understand so far, does not do anything to your dvd drive specifically.it just makes what it does to your system, become incompatable with your drive with CERTAIN hacked firmware/original samsung drive fw revision combos.
the theory i’m most leaning toward is this:
firmwares 4.0 and above, make an MS 25 drive “act” like an MS 28.
firmwares below 4.0, make an MS 28 drive “act” like an MS 25.
after the update, from what i read, those with these firmware hacks/MS 25 or MS 28 combos, are the ones that are having the problem.
those with ms 28 and 4.0 and above, and those with ms 25 and below 4.0; have reported that there systems work fine after the update.
so i think it has something to do with the cross-contamination, if you will, between firmwares and original fw drive revisions.
Have been updated a Hitachi drive modified ! All OK ! HD rolics looks nice from disks and backups works, THANX for Microsoft for not killing my XBOX and for new coolest feautures.

someone on the offical xbox forums state they have e66 error and dont have modified firmware….think it bullshit to be honest! any updated hitachi 47 drive?

i have an Hitachi v47 and i have done the update and every thing is just fine no problems. i have also done the update on a samsung ms28 with an nme360 mod chip installed and every thing works ok on that as well.
just a thought for the guys who have error code 66 try to restore your old firmware as you can flash the drive even with error 66. once flashed back test it with a original to see if it works then flash it with firmware 3.0 ,2,3. hope it works out for yous.
yeah, your right i am a jucky so and so, but i deserve a bit of luck for a change, it took me hours just to flash my xbox just because i dodnt read it was a ms28, when i read it, i done a succesfull flash in a couple of mins!! and im glad it still works, if you have the same drive and firmware as me, just do the update ffs, it should work fine.

i have hitachi 47d drive and it works.new update is great but in the video section it can’t see ipod, on the otherhand psp works in this section ironicaly =()

ware version of the DRIVE you have.either ms 25 or ms 28.if you don’t know, tell us what date your 360 was manufactured.that should help.if its ms 25, then you should be ok.

Please can somone help me i have a samsung hacked firware drive but i need but i dont know what drive it is e.g ms25 or ms28 because i didnt hack it please can someone tell me becuase i need this update to play live my xbox was manufactored for the release date meaning that i had it fro last christmas making it one of the first xboxs made

21, if your box is from last year you got a ms 25.and if its not hacked, theres a 99% chance that you’ll be okay.there have been reports of the update messing up unhacked boxes but from whatg i’ve read it has been recently purchased systems, and only a small portion of those.
but i took the plunge and did the update.

to add to my last post my xbox was sent back for repair about 6 months ago and had a new drive put in a samsung
hi i have just read on planetxbox360.com that microsoft has said that the brinking problem is not because of anti moding but because of a fault in the update but they should be putting a new update up with in the next 12 to 24 hours. if you got error code 66 but have not flashed your drive call xbox support . if you have flashed it then reflash it back to the m$ firmware then after testing it flash with firmware 3.3 i have done this to fix my mates drive and it now works fine.
If you have a hacked sammy you have to swith to “4.2b ” to use the update , it will also repair your brick ,

how do you find out whether u have a hitachi drive or samsung, I got my 360 last year on release, and got it flashed with the firmware about 4 weeks ago

to update with no hassle disconnect the sata and power cable to the xbox360 dvdrom drive!
make sure you disconnect both leads or an hardware error will show!
once update is downloaded just reconnect all cables job done!

extreme 360 is just an angry gay man. It cant be fixed the dvd drive will not read disks so I cannot enable 0800 mode. So extreme go bl@w your boyfriend!!!!!!!
