Update: Team Xecuter has made it apparent a public release will be available soon!
The scene can expect a hack for all drives very soon (It’s currently only Hitachi) - you can be assured that it will be released although I don’t think modchips will be any kind of business as its a pure piracy mod - no homebrew at all.
The Xbox 360 has been hacked by xboxhacker.net. Unfortunately they are not planning to release their hack of course this won’t be able to stay private too long and you can expect to find the file here as soon as it is made public.
Months of hard work have come to an end. The 360 FW security details were posted a few days ago already, so why not make it official Smiley It’s been done.

As you (should) know, all Xbox 360 executables (XEX files) are signed by Microsoft (with a private key only MS has). This means that if you try to change anything to the XEX file, the signature will be wrong and the file will not boot.
Now … to protect from booting an exact copy of a game from a DVD-R or other recordable media, microsoft gave each XEX file a ‘mediaflag’. This mediaflag tells the Xbox 360 from which media (cd-r, dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-rw, hdd, dvdxbox, dvdxbox360, …) the XEX is allowed to boot. Changing this mediaflag in the XEX header is not an option as it’ll break the signature of the file , so … what’s done in this firmware hack is ‘break’ the detection of the disc.
Retail games usually get a mediaflag where they only allow ‘dvdxbox360′ (Xbox 360 discs - different than a normal DVD because it has some specific bad sectors and special info in lead-in/out that can’t be written with a standard dvd burner). The modified firmware will trick the DVD drive into reporting a DVD-R (or other) as a DVDXBOX360 to the Xbox 360.

It doesn’t matter that they did it if they’re not going to release it. To me they just wasted they’re time if they were trying to prove a point. I’ll give credit to the person or persons who does it and gives out for trial/release. Not a video that shows they did it. This is the 21 century, video editing is not brain surgery.(Any 10 y/o can do it with the right programs.) If your going to do something as big as crack the firmware on a machine that the developers claims was impossible and then not let anyone vouch for you, it’s as good as saying that the developers were right in the first place and it is impossible.
i totaly agree.. i new followed the xbox…(playstation was my thing) but to me cracking smothing that big and not sharing it is wack. look at the psp community, and new information realating cracking that system was relesed to the public for futher development, no secrets, no wack videos. if ttheir claim is true they can shove it up their ass, along with each others dicks.

mine got stuck in the 360 so i cant really help but you wont burn out your battery simply charge it in usb port then unplug it from usb and use it untilit runs out. Not very good though because it wont really be wireless. If you really want it out just take it to a local pc repair shop and they will be able to remove it with out damage hope this helps

I think there are other stuff that needs to be checked before anyone says that xbox360 is hackproof..
-XEX files are signed, thats correct, and it is impossible to hack the sign.. correct..
But xbox 360 uses other files to.. Are They all signed?
-Custom made drives via sata?
Maybe soon dvd drives for pc came out with sata.. Who knows , maybe xbox 360 could be fooled with one..
-Xbox 360 can accept streams..
Could be an attack vector too.

HI GUYS I GOT THE FIRMWARE HACK FROM BAERSHARE ITS A XEX FILE I HAD TO BURN IT WITH XISO ALL IS GOOD MY BACKUP COPYS WORK FINE EVEN XBOX LIVE WORKS WITH MY BACKUP GAMES ON DVD-R AND THANX VERY MUCH FOR THE HACK GUYS KEEP IT UP.
