Gael360 has released a new Windows tool whichs allows you to easily read/navigate the file-system on the Xbox360 hard drive. Unfortunately at the moment you’re unable to write any data to the disk.
There are 2 ways to navigate (read) the Xbox360 HD:
* With the first button (Open File) to open a dump of the disc (faster and more secure)
* Or you can read directly from the disc (in that case the Xbox360 disc must be selected as default) by using the icon on the right (Open Disc)This is the first version, the program will evolve in the coming days, including support for PIRS files.
Some info about the content of the disc:
* Cache: as the name says … used for caching
* Content: sub-dir 0000… contains the demos and other things you downloaded from LIVE. The other sub-dirs are user profiles.
* mindex: contains music files (both the original music files that come with the HD and those you recorded/transfered)
* H2: unknown (something with Halo2?)
* Compatibility: Xbox 1 gamesaves
* $systemupdate: Last weeks system (kernel/dashboard) update? (seems to contain the dashboard/system files (xex files) flashed on the Xbox360 TSOP during the update)

Well, I think that this will be nice when you can write to the HD. Great work to the coders of this thingy.
yea…but how does this work… how do we connect to HDD… do we need to strip the baby off its shell and connect to a computer for it to read through there or how….

You are connecting to the hard drive via your network connection… basically you are connecting to the hard drive thru the lan connection… so you dont need to strip anything… too bad it cant write or delete stuff off yet… i hope the next release will have this capability
i’m sure it’s expecting the drive to be connected via a sata cable.
it should be quite easy for someone to make an usb to xbox 360 sata cable that would not require opening the casing
