February 23, 2006Datel Memory Transfer
Posted by Sparky
It seems like datel is planning on releasing a memory card to transfer data from the 360, to the pc.
Datel is planning to release a device and accompanying software that will allow you to transfer games, downloads and any other data very easily to your PC.
The retail price is expected to be around $14.99, and should be welcomed because unlike previously, users will no longer be required to modify their memory cards to effect the transfer.

This seems like a very usefull device if the right steps are taken, but I’ll let you have your own opinion on this.
February 19, 2006wxHdd v1.2 and wxPirs v1.1 Released
Posted by greg
Gael360 has released an update to wxHdd - a tool to read/navigate the Xbox360 hdd filesystem.
New in v1.2
* Experimental support for memory cards (v1.0.1)
* Fixed some bugs (v1.0.1)
* Handling fragmentation of disc (v1.2)
* Opening of several partitions (v1.2)
* Extracting directories (v1.2)
* Instant/Direct opening of files (v1.2)
* Note: wxHdd does not have a feature to ‘add files’ (write on HD/Image) yet.
Also, aside from wxHdd - Gael360 has also released a new tool, wxPirs. This application opens Generic Xbox360 container files (PIRS, LIVE and CON).
This tool will allow you to open files of the following types: PIRS, LIVE or CON, which are generic container files on the Xbox360.
More info about this format is available on free60.org.These 3 formats are identical, the only difference are the first 4 characters of the file (PIRS/LIVE/CON), which is where their names come from, and what they are used for:
* PIRS: used to store themes or gamertags for example
* LIVE: used to store content downloaded from Xbox LIVE
* CON: these are a bit special, they are the only ones of this format that are create by the Xbox 360 itself. They are used to store saved games.
Both these applications require the Microsoft .NET Framework.

February 15, 2006Xplorer360 Beta 3

360GameSaves.com has released beta 3 of Xplorer360 - now with original Xbox support!
Besides the addition of Xbox support; this release also fixes two bugs related to the backup/restore and the previous physical device injection problems.

360gamesaves.com has released Xplorer360 Beta 2! You can now connect your Xbox360 HDD to your PC via an S-ATA controller, and Xplorer360 will provide you with the following functionality:
- FULL Read/Write to 360 HDDs.
- FULL Read/Write to 360 Memory Units.
- Physical and Logical drive access.
- Support for opening of dumps of both devices.
- Backup/Restore dump options.
What’s all this mean? Well a lot! For instance, 360gamesaves.com has already begun populating a 360 save game database!
This next tid bit of info is taken from xbox-scene.com:
The Xbox360 saves are usually in /content/<profileid>/<titleid>/ of partition3 on your Xbox 360 HD. Xbox 360 gamesaves can be transfered to another Xbox 360 console and profile, but all ‘LIVE achievements’ will be disabled of course (achievements are linked to the LIVE profile). A dumbed down version of xplorer360 made specially for gamesaves manipulation will be released soon which should make it easier for beginners to find their gamesaves.
Also interesting - this tool will allow you to move over your old Xbox 1 gamesaves to your Xbox 360 (they will probably have to go somewhere in /partition3/Compatibility/Xbox1/ or /partition3/H2/), something that was impossible up to now.
But of course it’ll also allow you to navigate the rest of the disc, so you can check out all the stuff located on the drive, like the music stored on your drive or what you downloaded from Xbox LIVE for example (demos, live arcade, themes, videos …).
Download Xplorer360 v0.9 Beta 2
Enjoy!

Gael360 has also released an update to wxTheme - a tool used to extract the contents of the Xbox360 theme files.
Comments (4)The biggest difference is an improved handling of the PIRS format to allow extracting theme files located on the Xbox 360 HD.
You’ll find the themes you downloaded from LIVE in this directory on your Xbox360 HD (atleast that’s where they were on my console):
\Content\0000000000000000\FFFFE07D1\00030000
You can also use this software to open PIRS files other than themes files, but with some bugs. I’m working on a more stable application dedicated to PIRS files.
February 12, 2006Xbox360 HD Tool - wxHdd v1.0
Posted by greg
Gael360 has released a new Windows tool whichs allows you to easily read/navigate the file-system on the Xbox360 hard drive. Unfortunately at the moment you’re unable to write any data to the disk.
There are 2 ways to navigate (read) the Xbox360 HD:
* With the first button (Open File) to open a dump of the disc (faster and more secure)
* Or you can read directly from the disc (in that case the Xbox360 disc must be selected as default) by using the icon on the right (Open Disc)This is the first version, the program will evolve in the coming days, including support for PIRS files.
Some info about the content of the disc:
* Cache: as the name says … used for caching
* Content: sub-dir 0000… contains the demos and other things you downloaded from LIVE. The other sub-dirs are user profiles.
* mindex: contains music files (both the original music files that come with the HD and those you recorded/transfered)
* H2: unknown (something with Halo2?)
* Compatibility: Xbox 1 gamesaves
* $systemupdate: Last weeks system (kernel/dashboard) update? (seems to contain the dashboard/system files (xex files) flashed on the Xbox360 TSOP during the update)

Posted by greg
Paulus, from Xbox-scene.com, has accomplished an extremely cool mod!
Comments (32)I got my watercooled 360 finished this week. I made a waterblock to cover both the CPU and GPU and the pump is fitted internally. The reason I put it on the left side is the right side has a metal plate across it and I didnt want to start cutting it. It also seems to be easier to put the casing back together with it on the left side.
