mperfect.net has a kickass guide with illustrated instructions on how to stream DivX Movies to your Xbox 360 using Windows Media Connect. The article is quite lengthy and the author really get’s into detail with images to show you everything he is talking about. Here is a quote from the opening paragraph:
this article shows how to stream DivX (and XviD) movies to an XBox 360 using a Media Center. for the picky people, it doesn’t actually stream DivX … it converts to WMV on the fly to stream. the core process for accomplishing this is taken from a thread found on the XBox forums : Playing DivX movies without having to Re-encode, through media centre. this works fine, but has the disadvantage that you have to manually set up the encoding process on your Media Center and then move over to the XBox 360 to watch it. so all this article really does is provide an MCE interface so you can control everything from your XBox 360 being used as an MCE Extender. i.e. its for lazy people. it was also an excuse for me to write a ListMaker AddIn for MCE … which i hadn’t done yet. not to mention my MCE setup doesnt have a TV Tuner and only has 32 megs of video RAM, so i cannot play video on it at all :(
have to say that the limited edition remote absolutely sucks. bought the Universal Remote and its pretty crappy too, but with backlit keys and more buttons. my old MCE remote can work with the X360 too, and it seems to work slightly better. the wireless controllers are much more reliable. i’m thinking that MS should make a remote that uses the same tech as the wireless controllers.

I think streaming divx videos is a good sign but seriously….I dont stream anything from my pc to xbox 360…its just a waste…can just liten to it on my pc…
Secondly, I dont understand why people save music to their xbox 360 HD (except for using them as sound tracks in their games). I mean you cant save any file format other than the music (only selected) files. This is shitty.. I cant save my PhD thesis paper or any document file or crap like that on my xbox 360. ( I was planning to use X360 as an external HD but fucking M$, cant even load a document file on to the HD)….
If anyone knows how…please let me know..THanks

#3, that has been known since the beginning of all this man. Media connect can only stream your pic’s and MP3’s.
And to #2, streaming movies to your 360 might be great if your into bittorrent’s and such. Watching some movies that are not out in theater’s on your HD tv is quiet nice. But it all depends on the person but I aggree with what your saying about the file’s and documents.
comon people why do you need the xbox 360 to hold documents that’s stupid. it a game console.qs for streaming divx i think it’s great does it work with xvid

i am asking whether we cansave files so i can start dumping some updates and other shit for xbox 360 coz i dont have broadband at home, besides… it will be a lot easier to softmod if the USBs on the xbox 360 were to recognize other file formats.
Also, try backing up your laptop (oh, u dont have one…) on a disc every year…. you will have so much shit in ur computer HDD that it is impossible to backup all data on one DVD disc, not forgetting the painful time consuming process of burning the DVD COMPARED TO transfering files to an external HDD. It is much faster and easily accessible.
