Over at xbox-scene.com theres been several reports with regard to the Xbox360 crashing during gameplay - namely while playing Project Gotham Racing 3 in single player mode during the first lap.
Personally I’ve had my Xbox360 freeze a few times during NFS:Most Wanted - when it was left on pause for longer than 5 minutes and during the middle of a split-screen circuit race. I believe it was due to the Xbox over-heating as it laid horizontal on my floor; however, after standing it vertically - it hadn’t froze again.
Has anyone else experienced freezing or crashes with their Xbox360? Please leave your comments below.
yeah that happened once and i did the same thing and put it vertical and it works fine.
Havent had problems crashing but have noticed if xbox goes from vertical to horizontal while playing game it will be scratched and unable to play. PLEASE BE CAREFUL! (ruined 2 nfs most wanted games)
That sucks, My xbox 360 only crashes when i leave it on for 10 mins not playing it when its horizontal, _ like that, flat on the table, never happens when its standing up. I think the xbox 360 is like that, you have to make it stand up!
my xbox360 did that. but i took it apart. man it’s cool inside .but now the prosesor is fryed. =(
havent had any trouble with it yet. all ive been playing is madden so far.
mine freezes at random points during any of the four games i bought.
havent had a single problem with mine, been playing call of duty 2 for the past 7 hours straight (single player in case anyone wants to know) and i also have PGR3 and Condemned both ive already put many hours into with not a single problem. i did however on launch nite have some very minor problems while downloading from the marketplace where it would stay at a certain % but if i canceled and restarted it would show its true %, havent had any problems since then i just think it was due to the all the new 360 owners lagining Xbox Live.

the hole laying it down thing is wierd beacause there is a game stand that requires you to ly it down
You all who have a xbox 360 have all been punked by microsoft.
Of course does it crash for no reason, this is the way of Microsoft, You buy thier shit and the let the buyers be the beta- testers.
First of all, no one has been “punked by microsoft”. Why would you come to this site unless you have an xbox360? Quit lying to yourself. Second, I have not had trouble with a game crashing on me, though it seems it has been happing to only three games: PGR3, Perfect Dark, and Need for Speed. If its the software or even the hardware, an update will be sent out on xboxlive. I believe Microsoft will handle this problem accordingly.
I have tried 3 games in my 360 and all have had the same problem they freeze up after a few minutes call of duty 2 need for speed most wanted and perfect dark. what a huge dissapointment

hey guys just want to put my 2 cents in on launch day when i got home and played call of duty it was ok i went and bought Need for speed and played it with sys standing up and played for a while it was ok. after dinner i turned it on and got an error msg telling me to ctc MS. i was like wtf and then i heard on these post it happening to other people. i guess it a kind of confort it not only me hehe :)
BY the way to all you xbox haters i dont mind buying it if you love PS3 so much keep waiting because i am having fun and all you can do is wait hahaha :)

of course we will wait and how are u having fun with a crashed box?! now im not hating on microsoft but u got to admit when they release something new there is always a problem. not saying sony is perfect, but damn what a dissapointment i was hoping xbox 360 would make me a believer. i got a pc and dats all the xbox i need. PS3 will own ALL!
My Xbox has been freezing up during gameplay in all my games. I won 7 different games and it’s freezed in most of them including NFSMW, NBA Live 06, Kameo, and King Kong. I called support and they said they could fix it but I would have to send it in for 2 WEEKS!

Yeah, ours died after 15 minutes. Gotham froze up after 5 min ( screen went black with red stripes in the middle of a cornering ), and the screen now starts having all sort of artifacts after I turn it on again and it warms up a bit. It’s definitely a HW problem. Had to return it…
i have it froze during PDZ it gave me a WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!!!!!
ive talked with a few friends of mine that have gotten a 360 and out of the 4 i talked to 3 of them had problems with it freezing, come to find out it was just due to them not having it in ventalated area, sept one of them was cause the moron had it siting on his shag carpet lol. anyway just wanted to let ya know so far it seems most of its from overheating cause people dont seem to understand that things like that need a good amount of open room to breath.

Let me say that I am a gamer who likes both systems, I have purchased every system that comes down the road. I was there when Nintendo screwed us all for the first time and then Sega so why should Xbox be any different? I have 40 hrs straight on PDZ and no probs yet. of course it will heat up when layed flat! duh!
This is my second post here. Mircosoft will fix any problems. My Box stop freaking out. All I did was return PDZ…All other games work. Try staying connected to LIVE all the time…AND NOBODY WANTS TO COME TO AN XBOX360 SITE TO HEAR PEOPLES OPIONS ON HOW THE PLAYSTATION3 IS BETTER. TAKE IT ELSEWHERE. PLAYSTATION SUCKS!

i don’t have any problems with my 360. all i did was moded it just like my PC,and it turned out great…been playing NFS MW for the whole day and it performs well no problems encountered…one thing, that’s why sony didn’t release the PS3 yet because they want to know the PRO and CONS of 360 so that they can modify it and when released, surely it minimizes the bad impressions of buyers…PS3 and 360 is both a powerful console just like a PC ,when your pc is an high-end pc then you should have good air cooling, that’s what i did with my 360…peace out!!!ehehehe
Hm…Iv’e read all these comments and I just laughed!…Now…I don’t have an X-box 360 but I was hoping for good comments on it,but all I see is a ton of comments saying its freezing up and you can’t put it horizontal. Man…That’s Ghey!…I said to myself and decided to wait for the SEXY PS3. I Know for a fact that PS3 will be much better!…Cuz SONY was smarter to not release their system so early, and Iv’e always been devoted to Playstation cuz it was the most respectable system until X-box came out and the main reason people say x-box is better is cuz of X-box live and the hard drive…but SONY wasn’t aware of this so them having already released their PS2 could not upgrade it to really compete with x-box and it still has better games and the most units sold!!!

Fact is that i see lots of xbox 360 heating up and shit, well im getting this console no matter what. but im just going to wait awhile for microsoft to upgrade there console so there wont be all the problems you “beta testers have had”

im dissapointed. i was really considering buying a 360 this holiday season but if the shit crashes all the time then its definately not worth 400 bucks. im not a sony fanboy, i owned and loved the first xbox, but i think im waiting for sony on this one . it might be more expensive but the graphics are hawtness and they are gonna have more time to bug-test it.
I’am not a big fan of x-box 360 (Micro.APPs is cool but that’s about it) but let’s be turesfuly it’s not all that good. I was with friends and we were playing with x-box 360 6 out of the 8 of us said “360 sucks” (and the games too) no hard feelings, right!?
Okay, I’ve had my 360 since launch. I’ve had it vertical ever since and I’ve left it on 52 hours straight. Wanna know what happened? FUCK ALL. It’s just overheating when you place it horizontally, when you DO place it horizontaly SHAKE IT, the fans get stuck sometimes and also the cd drive scrapes. Also about PS3, all it has is the crap 2.4ghz cell processor, which sony is relying on WAY TO GODDAMN MUCH. Microsoft relies on PURE power (3.6ghz x 3) the PS3 and 360 will be a close match but overall gameplay and replayability I think will come down to 360 and xbox live. Oh and the PS3 WILL have glitches, all systems do on launch.

My Xbox 360 was working fine then I felt the air holes in the back they were very hot so I went and got 2 120V fans from radio shack I put one on the side and one on the back now its always cool it also stoped freezing in NFS Mosted Wanted but it also got about 100 times louder too but with 5.1 you hardly notice it.

yea this sucks . i got my 360 for christmas which was yesterday. i played it for about 2 hours and downloaded 3 of my cd’s to it . then i went to play my cd on the 360 and it froze . i turned it off and went turned it back on and there were “3 red lights” flashing . the guy from xbox technical support told me he would fix it and it would be back at my house in about 3 weeks . this sucks ass . i know all systems have glitches but bill gates who’s making billions of dollars should not be making these mistakes . it fucking ruined my christmas cuz this is basically all i got . i hope they find out wats wrong w/ them .
ok, i just say that all these people who are slating the Xbox 360 seriously need to stop, overheating? what over heating, only over heating incidents i’ve heard is when the system is laid horizontally, when stood vertically it never crashes
and if it does crash, it’s probably the system’s security threads finding bugs in downloaded demo software from xbox live…thats the only problem i’ve had……i’ve had the machine over a week now and i can honestly say i’ve only seen the 360 crash a few times, 1) trying to execute a downloaded demo from live….they have bugs to be worked out anyway 2)i noticed artifacts when playing perfect dark zero, i don’t see them now….i’m not sure why it did it in the 1st place but i’m not worried now, but other than that i gotta say Xbox 360 in my eyes is a worthy investment
Calm down guys… anyway, the system is new! What do you want? Perfection? Ha! The PSX and PS2 had the worst lauches ever but all is well now and the same will be with the 360. A few games freezing? Man, that’s NOTHING!! Mine freezes anyway you set it up. (it’s the games) BUT it doesn’t do it everytime I use it. My problem has been getting on to XBox Live, it’s just not happening but I’ll work it out as I always do. Hang in there and we’ll ALL be watching when the PS3 comes out and you know there WILL be problems when it does… For me it’s worth the $ because there sure HASN’T been anything new on the PS2 lately, after Christmas that is. I’m looking forward to see what MS does with this new system and the games WILL only get better and the bugs WILL be workied out and we’ll all be laughing at the PS3 boys when they complain about their new PS3. Hey, I’ll most likely be one of them as well. I like ALL the systems and own most… (enjoy and have FUN!) I’m out! Fizzz
My 360 Crashed all the time, when i laid it horizontal. i now have a stand with built in fans which has stoped it from crashing, for now.
